Grumpymann Report post Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) Have a bleed knot dog leash on order. I'm going to make it out of 2 layers of 3 to 4 oz medium temper leather 6 to 6 1/2 feet long and 1 inch wide. My question is, is it okay to just contact cement the layers together and burnish well , will it last? Or will I have to forgo sleeping and eating to hand stitch it? I plan on using some stitches at junction points for decoration and strength @ the junction points. Any help of advice will be appreciated. Edited December 1, 2019 by Grumpymann Make my point clear. Mattsbagger Report post Posted December 1, 2019 I’d stitch it. It will probably separate eventually without it. A dog lead is gonna be a heavy use item that will probably get wet and dry a lot over its lifetime.
battlemunky Report post Posted December 1, 2019 Yeah, I'm going with stitching it too. If it were a keychain fob or something, I'd attempt it. Since there is a living thing on the end of it, and how the customer would feel about it if it did delaminate, I'd stitch it if I were making it. Bright side: that's some great practice on stitching
