Have a bleed knot dog leash on order. I'm going to make it out of 2 layers of 3 to 4 oz medium temper leather 6 to 6 1/2 feet long and 1 inch wide. My question is, is it okay to just contact cement the layers together and burnish well , will it last? Or will I have to forgo sleeping and eating to hand stitch it?

I plan on using some stitches at junction points for decoration and strength @ the junction points.

Any help of advice will be appreciated.

I’d stitch it. It will probably separate eventually without it. A dog lead is gonna be a heavy use item that will probably get wet and dry a lot over its lifetime.

Yeah, I'm going with stitching it too. If it were a keychain fob or something, I'd attempt it. Since there is a living thing on the end of it, and how the customer would feel about it if it did delaminate, I'd stitch it if I were making it. Bright side: that's some great practice on stitching  :)
