Need help on Singer 111W155.

I hit a welt cord and bent the needle.  Went to re time it, and the hook was at 3 o'clock when needle was in the right position .  Checked the timing belt and it was off. Re set it where the marks lined up. Now the feed is not in time. Needle goes down in front but the inter foot rises and the outer foot goes down. Seems  like it is reversed. Just bought the machine a few week ago. I wonder if the belt was not on correctly,  it could have something on the top half that is not set correct?

Thank You for any help Rich

Check to see if the safety clutch is engaged properly & since it WAS sewing why in the world would you think the belt was installed incorrectly? It's incorrect now though since you moved it that is why it isn't feeding correctly now. There's directions on this link how the reset the belt & timing.

Hi Bob

I went to re time the hook. The arrows didn't line up on the shaft. The take up lever was at it's highest point  I just set them so they would line up and be in the correct position.

Thank You

The safety clutch probably disengaged the hook drive to protect it from the needle jam. All you have to do when this, or a thread jam happens is to push down on the button closest to the hook compartment and turn the hand wheel backwards until it re-engages the drive.

The 111w155 manual says "to re-engage the safety clutch, push the lock stud (button) on the bed to engage the hook driving shaft lock ratchet, which prevents the hook driving shaft from turning backward. Turn the machine pulley away from you until the locking lever snaps into the notch in the shaft collar."
