Mungo Report post Posted February 21, 2020 Will the hand presses sold by Tandy, Springfield, et al, set tubular (hollow rivets)? After making the bandolier in the Show off section by using a ball peen hammer, section I now have a painful case of bursitis and would like to avoid this in the future. Thanks
fredk Report post Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) The Tandy press will do them with a set of dies; https://www.tandyleather.eu/en/product/press-dies-for-hand-press Edited February 21, 2020 by fredk
Mungo Report post Posted February 21, 2020 Thank you for the reply. I’ll get one before I use a bunch of rivets again.
billybopp Report post Posted February 21, 2020 I bought my red Tandy hand-press several years ago when it was on sale, and haven't looked back. It's AWESOME. It cut the number of messed up rivets to nearly zero. The throat depth means that I still have to set one by hand now and then, but that's pretty rare. It was money well spent. - Bill
eglideride Report post Posted February 22, 2020 I have the 'red' Tandy press and the Weaver Little Wonder. The Weaver is great for rivets. (Mine came with the splash rivet die set.) A more elegant machine IMHO. Adjustable for different lengths of rivets. (Both companies charge too much for the die sets.)
