Members DaveP Posted May 11, 2020 Members Report Posted May 11, 2020 Do you have to case/ dampen veg tan leather to apply pro dye? Before I read about dampening the leather I tried a test piece dry. It actually looks better than the one I did dampened. To me anyway. It's their chocolate pro dye. It came out a nice chocolate color. Once I dampened the actual piece it came out almost black. Anything wrong with putting on dry leather? Thanks again Quote
Members rleather Posted May 11, 2020 Members Report Posted May 11, 2020 I have been dying leather since the seventies, and I have never put dye on wet leather, no issues yet! Quote

garypl Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 I never apply oil dyes to wet leather - only dry. Water based dyes should not be a problem on damp leather. Gary Quote
