TomG Report post Posted May 20, 2020 I have used brass plated double cap rivets for years now, but now need to use the solid brass for one of my customers. My question is, how strong are they compared to the plated rivets. They will be putting a lot of force on them. Thanks
Hardrada Report post Posted May 20, 2020 The copper ones hold the weight of an average-sized man. The brass rivets are stronger than the copper ones.
johnv474 Report post Posted May 28, 2020 Note that there are.also solid brass double cap rivets. That is NOT the same thing as a solid brass rivet + washer, which look and function similar to copper, except they are harder to set because of the harder metal. The YouTube videos on setting a copper rivet will be of use to you to show the method for setting.
