Duke Report post Posted February 6, 2008 ok so a week or 2 ago, someone posted a pic of some lacing they did on some of thier tools. I was wanting to figure out how to go about it, and even went as far as buying the "leather braiding- bruce grant" book. unfortunately it doesnt go into depth on how to braid contoured shapes. I'd like to start out braiding my #3 keen edge beveler. any tips, or maybe the person that did the braiding could do a walkthrough? any help please, would be great. Duke Report post Posted February 6, 2008 got the paperback copy. I like the look, and the improved grip that it adds to the tool. if I can figure it out, I am going to do the handle on my head knife, and all of my bevelers and saddlers groover. rawhide1 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Duke You just need to braid a long pineapple on the handle. The knot will naturally follow the contours of the handle. You will need to add interweaves on the bigger parts to fill in the gaps. Hope this helps. Mike
TwoCrow Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I had a snow day so I thought I would through some roo on a tool handle and take some pictures. This isn't the best tutorial but I hope it helps. First you start with the ground work. I started with a pineapple knot Added the first interweave The second interweave won't go through the whole knot I third and finale interweave I used only goes around the largest part of the handle. The knot is done. That's how I cover my old tool handles! Here is my first tool handle I did. (Make sure you have a cover on the blade before you start) I hope this helps, Post us with your progress
