Members JHLeatherwood Posted May 10, 2021 Members Report Posted May 10, 2021 Not wanting to hijack one of the other threads. Am I correct that you leave the thread sock on when sewing, or is it just for storage? If it's left on, I assume I'd need to adjust my tension "downstream" . Thanks for all the expertise! Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted May 10, 2021 Moderator Report Posted May 10, 2021 Your assumption is correct. If you leave a thread sock on while sewing, adjust the top tension to compensate for any additional drag on the thread. Members LindanHotAir Posted June 28, 2021 Members Report Posted June 28, 2021 A thread sock is frequently used when the thread falls down the cone or “puddles”. It can add tension. An alternate solution is to use a foam pad under the cone to prevent the thread from catching under the cone. An unused mouse pad works well. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted June 28, 2021 Members Report Posted June 28, 2021 it may depend on the thread sock and how tight it is on the cone but I leave it on (the fine white ones) - no issues and no need for adjusting tension so far.
