Some real nice work there,

I have not done any real knifework on leather with carving n stuff but I really cannot figure how you do small intricate work with the leather using a swivel knife.

Would Y,all have any tips to help me with this.

well done on those straps.

JJ

Practice ;)

Good Job Joquarter. Do you have a hole at the end of the peg slot? Couldn't see one in the pictures. Make sure you get one on there so they don't tear out over time.

Yep , there is a hole on the end of the peg slot. Took both guitars on the picture , to look how big and where the holes supposed to be. Went to a guitar shop to look at there straps , lol. Shadowryder , I have a basic swivel knife from Tandy , use a 1/4" hollow blade , keep it sharp and practise a lot .

Cool. I just wanted to make sure since it's such a common mistake and has the potential to be disastrous to both the guitar and the strap.

Yeah, I wish there was more to it. But, it's really just deliberate practice of the lines and learning how to control the tools. Think up every possible scenario and practice those lines. Little tiny curves, straight lines, lines of beauty - then bevel them, model them, etc.....
