I recently acquired a D.B. Die Works No. 39 kick press. It is currently without a stand. Before I go ahead and build my own stand for it, do any of you out there have the original stand for this kick press for sale? Also, can you suggest a good source to purchase dies for this machine? I will be looking for dies for Line 20 and Line 24 snaps. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

I have been looking for a Fortuna Bell Skiver for some time with no luck here in the states, and have looked at them on Alibaba and they have a ton of them coming from China. Average price for skiver is $600-1200 depending on model plus around $200 to ship it to states. I also found sewing machines and 20 ton presses for below average prices so it is tempting. Has anyone had any experience with them or someone similar that would export from there?

I just bought an Fortuna 121 band knife splitting machine and I'm searching for manual/part list for it. I also have a couple of questions regarding the machine. I wonder how you determine when to change the band knife on it. This is an USM rebuilt machine. However, it's seen some use after that. Blue color with USM badge, new knife and drive belt followed the machine. Current knife is about 2 to 3 mm. narrower than the new one following with the machine. Part from that, the knife looks good. Haven't inspected every inch of it yet. Grind stones look square and blade felts/guides look like they have been replaced, looks fairly new. Haven't opened them up for cleaning yet.…

Hi All, Wondering if anyone knows if parts for a Nippy NP-1(?) bell knife skiver are available in Australia anywhere? I have a mostly complete unit rescued from the tip as a TAFE college shut down. The skiver is missing a small drive shaft that turns the stone inside the bell knife. It's a shame not to be able to use it just because of one little part....... Last I looked the Nippy site in Japan was pretty hard to navigate or understand, hence asking for someone that speaks Aussie(or even tolerable english) and hopefully can tell their billabongs and bunyips apart. Thanks!

Does anyone have a link to how to set-up, operate one of these? I bought one second hand and cannot seem to get it to skive, it either cuts right through the leather or does nothing at all and I'm getting frustrated. I've emailed cobra asking for instructions, or a manual, or a video, and received no response so if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

Trying to decide between the Cobra 14 inch splitter and the Artisan 20 inch LS 1020, both are about the same price. Anyone have experience with these machines? Any comments would be appreciated.

Here is an old belt press that I picked up from Landis International in Canada. Works great, but needed a fresh coat of paint. I am still working on painting it, but this is what it looks like so far! Thoughts? I am in need of a good die maker since I will need to customize them to my needs. Any die makers you are of other than Texas Custom Dies? I emailed them and am waiting on a call back.

Hi All, Today I received a reconditioned Fortuna skiving machine having waited impatiently for a month for it to arrive. I'd asked for a V50 S or equivalent machine, but I'm not exactly sure what it is that I've received. I was expecting a bottom feed machine, with continuous drive motor for the bell knife and a separate clutch motor for the feed wheel, as I thought this was standard with the V50 S. On the machine that I've received, the bell knife and feed are both driven together, which really limits it's effectiveness. Is it possible to simply install a separate motor to isolate the knife from the feed stone? My knowledge of machines and motors is pretty pathetic…
