A good friend of mine called a couple weeks ago and said his daughter was looking for someone to make a hand carved leather rifle sling for her boyfriend. She wanted a whitetail deer on top, an elk on the bottom and his name in the middle. This is what I came up with. Clay

Hi again fellow leathercrafters, Here are 3 projects I have done. The first one is a picture of Sitting Bull and the second is a photo of a rifle scabbard with the Winchester logo on it and the 3 project is a checkbook I have finished and ready to sew together. Karl

Yippee I get to be the first to post to this section. I am making a hunting holster for a friend. The gun is a Ruger Super Redhawk with a 7 1/2 inch barrel (I think that is right). No not much of a barrel for hunting but that is a different subject. He originally wanted a low slung space blaster type rig. I was able to talk him into a shoulder rig by using some of your arguments. Now the holster will not be that hard but the straps are a mystery to me. They need to be adjustable for practice during warm weather and also for over heavy hunting clothes (it rains during hunting season there). I have been sent some pictures but I can not figure out the…

Tom you might check out "How To Make Holsters" by Al Stolhman. I know there is a section in there about shoulder holsters. If you don't have it you can get it from both Hidecrafters and Tandy. I'm not much of a holster man. I have only made one and that turned out just ok. Nothing great, just ok. But it worked.
