Johanna Report post Posted April 28, 2009 http://leatherworker.net/picspslg/index.htm Those are pics of the pieces. Here are some pics of the people: Blanche Byrne. She collected and coordinated the donations for the raffle table. She's been actively helping guilds since, um, before I was born. Fantastic lady. Jan & Jerry Zonis from Artisan Sew Neil Cowan The Sharp Shop, Macon Ga aka Santa Claus The Prairie States Leather Guild Wade and I enjoyed ourselves. It was a small show, but the people there were mostly old friends. Our Holly and Tim and their son Ethan were there. Ethan won all the M&Ms. I think that was rigged. Allan Scheiderer, Carole Gehrman, Jim Linnell and George Hurst taught classes. There weren't many vendors there, but Jerry made sure I could thread and operate my new Artisan Toro 3000. Every time I had it together and was ready to sew he swooped in with scissors and cut the string-NO-thread and made me do it again. I think Bob Hall has pictures. Silva Fox was there, encouraging new folks and helping out. I think I put most of my raffle tickets in the can for her donation, but I didn't win. Darn. Carole Higgins, Edd Lucas, Brent, George Gross, Fred Kilburn, Dick Devine, John Van Zandt, Monica Nibbe, Bill Blass, Joe Shawo, Ernie Harris, Alex Madsen, Joe Holman, Barb Cassidy, Clyde, kfiretwo, and another 75 people who I don't mean to be forgetting were also there. Bob Chambers and Linda Zavala co-chaired the show, and they did a wonderful job. Next year's show will be in Michigan City again, so stay tuned for more details! Hilly Report post Posted April 28, 2009 Thanks for the pics, Johanna. It's really neat seeing the things that other people make. I think I recognised a pair of really hairy chaps there? I really, REALLY wanted to come, and was quite disappointed when my plans went to custard AGAIN. Well, they say the third time's the charm. Hilly
ClayB Report post Posted April 29, 2009 I wanna say thanks for the pictures too Johanna. For those of us that cant make it to the shows, the pictures and reports are the next best thing. I got a phone call from Monica Nibbe last night and one of the things she mentioned was that there were a lot of new/younger people entering the shows lately and the quality of thier work was really good. When I looked at the picture this morning, one of the first ones I saw was of KatieG's work and I knew just what Monica was talking about. Congrats Katie!! I also had an email from Silva. She mentioned that she really enjoyed her time with you (Jo) and Holly. I'm SOOOOO jelous!!! I've been a fan of her's since the first piece of her work I ever saw. To have her judge a piece of my work is such a thrill. She said she hopes to start participating here on the forum now that you showed her how to get back on. That should be a treat for everyone here. Thanks again for all you do to make this such a great place for all the rest of us.
CitizenKate Report post Posted April 29, 2009 I love getting to see all the work that was on exhibit, but I also really enjoy seeing photos of people and getting to put names with faces. Thanks for the great coverage, it looks like that show shows some promise of becoming a real event in future years. Kate

wildrose Report post Posted April 29, 2009 I'll get my pics up in a couple of days....we stayed longer to "site see" with Ethan. Start to finish, we had a great time. The show hotel was good (not phenomenal, but no complaints), the restaurant food was excellent, banquet was tasty...and best of all: I got a first and a third in competition. It was great to meet Brent, see Johanna, and Silva (whom I'd not seen in many years). It was also fun to catch up with other familiar faces (Allan S. got quite a bit of my money! as did the raffle table...) I am really glad we went. I won't make Indy in the Fall as one of my fav cousins is getting married in NJ that weekend.
BobHall Report post Posted May 1, 2009 Thought you'd all like seeing Jo playing with her new toy. This was BEFORE she sewed off the side of the leather. :-)

wildrose Report post Posted May 5, 2009 If you're on Facebook, please friend me (inc. a note of where I know you from!). Here are my show pics. I didn't take pics of every piece in competition, I confess, just some of my favorites. These are mine before they got to the show. The dragon got a first, and the butterfly a third. Some belts That beautiful bike seat Some binders and such Other items Those chaps were INCREDIBLE! I can't imagine working with something that furry! At first, I thought the leather strips were just sitting on top of a rug, then someone pointed out they were chaps! LOL, shows you what I know! Pictures Silva raffled off that pic with the birds...unfortunately I didn't get it! I liked the WTC Memorial though. It was one of my two favorite pieces in the show. My absolute favorite was this:
wildrose Report post Posted May 5, 2009 Here are some "people pics". No one better give me a rough time for how they look! I do wish I had a picture of "Santa" the tool sharpener. Ethan was amazed that Santa was in Chicago! Me with Allan with Blanche happy to meet you Brent! with George Hurst with Pat Goodman With Silva Fox and Johanna. I'd not seen Silva for many years, it was great to meet her again. Of course I have to have an Ethan pic in here...he was totally fascinated by this "fountain" in the hotel lobby. We had a great time at the show. We got there early on Friday, giving us time to relax (flew in from Charlotte, NC to O'Hare). Our only complaint of the weekend was the lack of reliable shuttle service from the hotel. They did take us back and forth to the local train station for free, at least. I enjoyed the chance to meet up with people I'd not seen in a while, and the banquet was wonderful. PSLG ran a fun show.
