    Can you compare this foam with a 40 durometer in relation to hardness?

    I'm looking for something less than 40.

    Honestly Kevin, I have no idea... The foam I got from knife kits is awesome for holsters. That's what I'm using it for anyway... I don't know how to tell on the density. It's very dense stuff.... Sorry I'm not much help... If you can tell me how to check it without some fancy tool, I'll sure help you out.. :cowgirl:

    I'll definatly purchase the thinner also.

    I've been using BARGE for over 30 years.

    I'm always open to try new products & technichs, thats why this forum is GREAT !

    I'll give Petronio a call, & if there prices are compatable with barge, I'll give it a try.

    I know I've seen the stamp I'm thinking of.... It's two rings locked together, I call it a wedding ring.... I used to see them on Ebay all the time and never thought I'd need one... Well, now I do.. Anyone out there have one?? If you don't want to get rid of it real bad, I'd even rent one for a one time use. I will buy it if someone has one they'd like to get rid of. Thanks for any help!!

    Here's a few pics of what I've been up to lately. My first armitas,, (finally!!) I've been wanting to do a pair. My twisted fringe shotguns.... Both are out of an awesome buffalo leather I found. The others are a pair of chinks and some shotguns I did a while back.

    Thanks everybody else for posting pics. They make me want to keep practicing the tooling. It is getting better all the time. But still needs work.. :)

    I make quite a few headstalls... What I do when I stitch one is put a copper rivet in right behind the buckle. Because when I use a center bar or cart style buckle I have the same issue... You can sew pretty close sideways until you try to turn the corner and go down the length. Then the back of the presser foot pushes on the buckle and messes up your stitching. When using a rivet it keeps everything tight and secure and you can space your stitching down just far enough to make everything nice and even. I have a left presser foot on my machine and that doesn't help any with the problem I run in to. Anyway, that's how I do it...

    Well, now I've got yet more additions to the list of things I've been doing wrong! <g>

    I've learned more in the last two weeks of reading this forum than I have since I first picked up the instructions to my Tandy Leathercraft Kit when I was a kid.

    Ok, now that I have some Neatlac, I'm curious which is the better overall finish for tooled leather. I don't usually dye much of anything, and I've been using Tan-Kote to seal up my basket stamp.

    I did discover that "well ventilated" means GO OUTSIDE with the Neatlac... HOLY COW!!! My shop is a room in the house. DO NOT Neatlac in the house... lol :eusa_naughty:

    I have some of the Fiebings Antique Finish that comes in the little jars. Is there a good way to use this stuff on a fairly big project? I like to antique some of my yokes on chaps and they are small enough I can get it wiped on and off fast enough it doesn't blotch too bad (most of the time) Anything bigger than that and it has dark and light spots that won't even up. Once the antique touches something, it's sealed and there's no fixing it. Would it help to have the leather damp??

    Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. Hopefully you can tell by this. Where the stamping stops and the smooth starts there's a dark spot.

    Not sure where to post this.. I have a bunch of chap leather scraps that need to find a good home. I don't have enough room for all of them. Some of the partial sides have some pretty big pieces left in them. Most are tans, browns, but there are a few creams and reddish ones. If anyone can use some let me know. I'd like to get $ 20.00 for a box. What I'll do is box it up in one of the long leather boxes and you pay the shipping. It will be PACKED! I won't send anything that doesn't have some decent sized pieces. You won't get a bunch of junk. Thanks.

    Looking to buy 1/4" kangaroo lace but cant seem to figure out who to order from, the prices vary quite a bit so im assuming quality does too. I have heard good things about y-knot, but shipping is the same cost as a roll of lace!!!! Anyone out there have recommendations on where to buy?

    I buy most of mine from Hitching Post Supply. I don't usually need a roll, so I can get 10-15 yards at a time. So far I've been pleased with their quality. The price is reasonable, probably not the cheapest but I like their service.
