  1. I'm by no means an expert, but I have had some success height wiseusing a piece of tape across the top or bottom where I want them toline up. Use the tape to line up the letter not the whole tool. If youlook the top of the letter isn't the same distance from the top of thestamp. Letter spacing is another matter. With some careful planning Isuppose you could do the same thing, but I find that side to side ismore forgiving than having a crooked line.
  2. Apparently, when you click on a thumbnail, if there is more than one picture, the system is loading all of the full size pictures and turning them into some sort of slide show. The pictures that I posted yesterday are resized properly for web use. One of them is only 16.6k at 600x400. When you click on one of the thumbs you have to wait for all three to load before you can view any one of them full size. You also don't get the option to save the picture for future reference. Whatever the wheelie thingie is, if you're on dial up, there is a good chance you won't see it. About the only bad thing about living where I do is the lack of any kind of high speed internet. A traffic jam is when two people show up at the stop sign at the same time. I live four miles from there. Dick
  3. I was really surprised by the new look, and I'll wait out the growing pains, but I just want to say early on that FLASH is BAD. (If that's what it is) Some of us live in places that dial up is the ONLY option. Anything with flash just won't show up, at least not this month. When I click on a thumbnail now I get the dreaded wheelie thingie that usually indicates a flash something is coming. There were a number of thumbs I tried to look at this morning and gave up on. Also when I see someones projects I like I save it to my computer, kind of a library of ideas. If a flash image ever does show up you can't save it. I also noticed that the whole site is much slower loading than before, probably because of all of those new bells and whistles.
  4. I've been lurking here for a while, picking up ideas. My first projects were some dog collars, because I couldn't find anyone to make what I wanted.(Boy were those things expensive when I got done) I have a friend that is an author, soooo every author needs a journal, right? I have no idea if she actually uses one. Anyway, I wanted to make something a little fancier than a piece of leather with a cord wrapped around it. I also wanted to make it refillable in case she actually uses it. I couldn't find any kind of notebook refill that was exactly what I wanted the end product to be like. Why do the marketers think that we all want cheap, or something like everyone else. (Do you know that you cant buy a pickup truck with all of the niceties and rubber floor mats ,instead of carpet, so that it's easier to wash out the brown stuff?) I found some really nice 32# cotton paper that looks nice, then I had to learn how to bind that together into a notebook. I had also never run a sewing macnine before. The leather binding on the notebook part looks nice, but even 2oz is to stiff, and I had one dropped stitch in a real obvious place. This is what I ended up with. All in all I'm quite pleased with the end result. I've got a whole lot of ideas for more projects, but the day job gets in the way, since I'm only home about 2 days every 2 weeks. Comments welcome.
  5. Really nice work. I especially like the lower one is the carving pattern something that you would share? I like the way they weave together. I notice that the basic belt design is different that what we see here, with the keeper right next to the buckle. Is the end a separate piece, or is it folded over from bottom to top? Are your belts sized to fit with very little past the buckle? I hope that question makes sense to you.
  6. Your work is beautiful, I especially like the books and boxes. I looked at your blog, many fine pieces of work. I see the title of your blog is handmadepaper in english. Do you also make paper? On the first blog page I think it might be February, at the bottom of the page, did you make the paper and do the writing? It's beautiful.
  7. Wal-Mart has something similar for about the same price.
  8. I might be able to supply something, I hadn't really thought of this use before. I don't have time right now, but I'll try to come up with some ideas. About how big would you need? They can be gold or silver in color. Pretty much any design you would want. If I can make it in Photoshop I can print it. For examples see here for ideas. One like the large one in the middle has been tested outside for a couple of years with no ill effects other than water spotting. I will have to check with suppliers to see if there are any suitable shapes available. They will not take much extended abrasion(they are plated after all) and they will scratch. If anyone is interested I'll work with you. I can tell you right now price is less than $50 including Photoshop and probably less depending on size. Dick
  9. Scott, I just sent payment for one of your burnishers. Thanks, Dick
