    Hi Johann

I'm almost done making a large rool bag and swingarm bag for my bike.

You are welcome to look at what I'm making.

I'm just waiting for the kangaroo lace to finish them off.

  2. It looks really good to me! Did you use an airbrush to color it?

Yes I've airbrushed the stain to build up the colour gradually light to dark.

I rubbed down the sprayed area once almost coated to take off any overspray and in order to build up the overall tone.

I only used three dyes to get the colours and these worked really well together.

Colours used were: Light Tan, British Tan and Mahogany. The two tans blended really well and I used a reducer to blend the colours almost to dilute them as I was working the tones.

  3. Finally I finished my first pieces of work last night, my motorcycle seat and dash panel.

Until two months ago I had never done any work in leather and so I'm thrilled with how they have worked out.

I have done everything myself thanks to this site giving me the confidence to have a go.

A big thanks to Roger at RHD for his 'How To' article on this site and for answering a couple of simple questions I asked him by email.

I used 7/8 oz tooling leather for my design and 2/3oz leather for the sides, plus 3mm Kangaroo lace for all the lacing.

I couldn't belive how much lace I used just for the seat, dash and hand grips I've made...10metres in total,

so now I need to order more to finish the matching pillion seat and roll bags.

Anyway here are the pics of how it looks before finishing with the leather dressing.

  4. Thanks for the colour info.

I'm ordering my dyes for my seat next week and I can't believe how much the colours tend to darken up once applied.

I'm going to airbrush the dyes on and will start by using a reducer initially to build up the colours so they fade into each other well.

I'll definitely do test samples first as none of the browns appear as you'd think from what I've seen.

  5. THAt's amazing work!! Tooling for 4 weeks my god am I ever going to get that good.

    Thanks for the compliments.

I've figured out how to do the lacing X-Braid and have made the sides for the bags.

Ordered my kangaroo lace and everything is hole punched now.

It will be a month before I can buy the final materials to finish everything and once finished I'll post pics.

I've love looking at the variety of work on this site.

There are some amazingly talented people and looking at the work gives help and confidence to do this project myself.

    Thanks
