I have decided to Antique Paste my Tooling followed by airbrush/painted detail. I will apply Neatsfoot Oil prior to a resist. My problem is that I can't find a 'Resist' to buy here in France where I live to apply prior to applying the Fiebings Antique Paste. I'm ordering the 'Fiebings Acrylic Resolene' for a finish. Question: Can this be used as an initial resist before applying the Antique paste? Thanks in advance for any advice help.

Hi Everyone, I've been making myself a new saddle and Pillion pad for the arrival of our HarleyTrike in September. The last seat I made and showed on this forum was about 10 years ago! This is far more complex and I'm really enjoying getting back into Leatherwork now I have the time. I've designed everything myself and now finished the tooling. I will lace the passenger pad now with 5mm Kangaroo Lace. I intend to paint/highlight some of the design details by brush before final lacing of the saddle and moulding to the seat base. Then I will airbrush to finish. Here's some pictures of my work so far.

Since making my Harley Motorcycle a solo seat a year and a half ago I decided to make a passenger 'pillion seat' with a small backrest pad to match. This meant I had to boost the colour on my solo so everthing matched so I had to re-airbrush parts of my original seat where the colour had faded. I have never made either of these items before but I'm very pleased with how everything has worked out. Here are the pictures.

Really nice looking seat. I haven't tried any Braid work yet and am still trying to figure the 'how to' with it and so I liked seeing your progressive pics. Was it done using 3 strands of leather? Also interested in the point David made about using Holes instead of Slits. I recently saw a seat which had slits and it looked very tidy with the lacing running through and thought I might try that next time. Not so sure now especially as I intend to use a wider lace, although I'm Continually learning.

Thanks for the constructive feedback Tom, it's appreciated. This is the first time I have ever made bags. I need to now have a go at braid as I really love the quality look it achieves. I'm also still trying to figure out burnishing edges and I guess it comes down to practice. Thank you

Thankyou. I airbrushed the stain starting with British Tan building it up. Follow through with a little Mahogany mixed with British Tan to achieve a slightly darker red/brown and then overspray with a light Tan to add the golden hue. The colour really glows beautifully in the sunshine.

I finally finished my large roll bag and tool bag. They are now on my bike and match the seat beautifully.

I had a small pocket knife which I like to carry and decided to make a belt holder sheath for it today. It's clean and simple and I think it worked out pretty good.
