  1. Gday folks I have been tring to do an 8 bight turks head interweave on a bosal i have made ,Iam following a book i bought off Gail Hought . I have no prob with the 8bight it self but am getting stuck on the interweave at the same spot for days now , even if i change it abit it still no good at the end , so i was wondering if some of you braiders might have the interweave passes so i can check the book i am following I get stuck at this point Pass over 2 ,splitting a parallel,under 2,splitting a parallel,pass over 1,under 1,over 1,under 3, Pass over 2,under 2,over 1,under 1,over 1,under 3, at this stage it is still ok , but then comes this Pass over 2,under 2,over 1, and under 3, it seems like i havent passed over enough on the last run . any help would be much appreciated. Gday Grumpy thanks for the kind coments, i cut my own set of strings with the lace cutter i made , then i put it thru a resizer and beveler i also made , if all goes well it might take me about 11hrs or so to make a stock whip , but the bullwhip is much more , i am not sure , i have a few sleeps in between!!i am a metal worker during the day leather worker only at night !! Thanks for the reply mate, i have'nt bought any rawhide yet so i dont know where the thickest part is but i am thinking its around about the back area ?? i have only made whips out of roo so this cow thing is new to me !!! i have heard there are a few diffrent ways achive the final piece ,,,, plaited ,,, rolled so do you plait roo over the top of the rawhide ? I am thinking i will , only because i dont want to do the dye thing ! I am sorry if i sound like a pain in the ass , but i want to make one for the cook ,, but want to get it right ,,, you know what they can be like !!!!! Cheers for now mate Bevan

  19. I have made and sell a lace cutter and beveler tool for kangaroo leather. The tool is solid aluminium and measures 100mm wide x 175mm long x 25mm thick it comes with 1 x blade, 2 x safety pins, and an allen key, you can trim lace up to 14mm wide and bevel any width but beveling is set for leather up to 2mm thick.   21. could some of you braiders help me out with a bit of info on rawhide bosals please ,, the core i believe is plaited or rolled rawhide?? is there a certain type or thinkness of hide to use ??

    Gday folks , i just came across this site by accident, best accident i have ever had , what a lot of info there is in here . i will keep it quick and just say Gday to yaz all because i am at work at the moment !!! but i will be back !!i look foward to chatting with you and gathering as much info as i can to help me better myself a a aussie whip maker and plaiter " braider" if any of you have some helpfull info on Bosal making i would be very happy to here from you .
