  1. Thank you both Bob and Randy. I will take a better look at Tandy's catalog and go to Publix tomorrow. I did try Winn Dixie and did not find any. I found some at Pearls art supply, but they only sell it in an 11 pound box. That is probably several lifetimes supply of paraffin. Thanks again for the help. Regards, Fred

    Mallet?

Hello, I am old and tired tonight! What does the BK mean? I am in the process of getting some material together to make a mallet for myself. So far I have a small brass bearing ( by small I mean it is about 3" OD) that I am going to turn down on the lathe to get rid of the threads on the OD. Then I will get some Delrin to put on the outside. I then will fit end caps and use all thread to pull it together and attach the handle material to it. Your mallet looks great. Regards, Fred
  3. Hello Bob, Like Todd, I am a newbie. I have seen you mention the dyes before and am curious about them and where to get them. Tandy has oil dies, but you seem to prefer another type and I would like to buy some to use your technique. The other thing that I have not found, as yet, in Miami is paraffin. Thanks for the tutorial. Regards, Fred
  4. Thanks Dave. I have admired your work many times in the past. Oops, that might have been for tmshaffer, my bad. Regards, Fred

This is a great site.
  6. Hi, His name is actually Luis, called Lui quite often. Here is his web site address-http://dleathersupply.com/index.html He will be a lot of help to you. In Fort Lauderdale there is a Tandy store which will be closer to you, but Luis is worth the call and drive to meet him and to have him give you lessons and help. Good luck, Fred
