  1. I used two coats of eco flow block on the carving and smoke black Hi lite over the top, finished with satin sheen. I need to check out the oil/spirit dyes as I have never used them but now want to do more stitching on pouches and sheaths etc. Everyone seems to recommend wetting the leather before sewing for a better result but that would mess up a water based dye so I guess the learning curve continues......any advice would be great!
  2. Thanks I didn't realise the pics were so big...now trying to resize them and then i can post some more...... I'll try these
  3. I don't do many sheaths so thought I'd have a go at one for my machete, pretty happy with it finished and I even got my Junker sewing machine to (nearly) do a consistent stitch!
  4. Curious now! Is the envelope type case wet molded to a liner?
  5. Hi Jarret, It does look very nice to me but if you want a critique then my eye will find it!.... the first thing I noticed was that the decorative cuts on the outside of the belt look a bit "lost" and don't flow with the design. My understanding of floral is that everything should "flow". The only other thing that I noticed was that mules foot was too big or tapped too hard as it is out of proportion with the design. I too am a newb and very rarely carve floral but maybe this post will get some of the more experienced carvers to post or you could post this in "critique my work" for more response? Keep up the great work though! All the best Bigfootleather
  6. I know nothing about case making but I love look of the stitches getting progressively bigger in the last pic...V nice
