Simplex Stitcher Advice, Similar To Goodyear Outsoler
Bigfoot replied to Bigfoot's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
tnawrot2 i'm sure you are right and it is not threaded right, I did try to follow an old scanned manual but you can hardly read it and can't see the pictures so it's not easy. It seemed then to be too tight and not feeding thread at all so I bypassed the lube pot and then it was too loose? I will have another go at it soon but here's some pics so you know what I'm talking about and it says KS1 on the side?. -
I hope he made a small fortune but it's a good job that patent ran out in '57 or there'd be alot of manufacturers in trouble now.

Do we get a prize if we find the mistake?? Is it the basket weave, top left under the knot design..basket weave stamping is boring but you must resist drinking beer while you do it or you will make mistakes! (Wonder how I know that! )

Don't know if you've done it yet but here are some pics of my first guitar strap that i just finished. The notes are dyed black, the "Fender logo" is dyed oxblood and then the telecaster letters and all the other light coloured areas were given 2 coats of block. Then the whole thing was then gone over using undiluted saddle tan highlighter and wiped off again. Hopefully that will help and give you some ideas

Hi all, One of my currrent projects is to get this old Simplex Stitcher back to working order...I know it is obsolete but I have a passion for these old machines. So far i have had a pressure foot made as the original was broken and it seems to try and sew well but the problem at the mo is tension i think?... it will punch a hole, push the the hook through and grab the thread...spin it round the bobbin... but then there seems to be no tension to pull all that thread tight before the next stitch?? I'm sure i will work it out eventually but if there is someone here who can help then that would be great.. Many thanks Gary PS Sorry but cant add a pic as the image is too big and I cant work out how to make it smaller!!

Please advise me on the needles for a Seiko TE6 as it says in the manual that they are dbx1 but i purchased some(Organ ones from Ebay) and they are too short?! Went to my local sewing machine shop today that does deal in industrial machines(allegedly) and he thought the Ebay needles were for a flat bed and not a cylinder like mine but he couldn't tell me what needles to buy? He sold me few needles(DPx17 / 135x17) that he said would fit(I know, what a sucker!) but they were slightly too long. Anyhoo, i now have a machine with no needles and not realy sure what to buy....is there a code for longer lenght DBx1?? ANY advise would be very helpful.. Thanks for your help Gary
