  1. Is there any particular reason why you made the front belt loop a separate component? The one advantage I can think of is that it would allow you to keep the body of the holster standard while adjusting the angle with different front pieces.
  2. In the past, I've covered the backs of the snaps (and rivets) with packing tape, when I bought cheap Hunter and other holsters. If I were making a holster with a snap, I'd definitely consider them.
  3. I'm working on a design very similar to the second example. Thanks for the information.
  4. Is anybody else making or working on tuckable IWBs? What kind of attachment system(s) are you using? Tandy sells the basic clips that most of the less expensive IWBs use, but nothing designed to be tuckable. Does anybody else sell appropriate hardware?
  5. I use Corel Draw for exactly the same reasons. I'm a lousy freehand artist. I find combining and modifying the shapes of primitives, like squares and circles far easier. I can print as many patterns as I need, gluing them onto cardboard. In addition, a pattern developed for one gun (Glock 19 for instance) can be easily modified for an M1911 or Browning, just by changing the dimensions, and occasionally the shape.
  6. What specifically did you find unsatisfactory?
  7. For those of you who have used the Tippman Boss, how hard is it to use versus a powered machine? I load all of my own ammunition on a Dillon RL550B reloading press, so manipulation of a manual device isn't a problem. I'm just wondering how much of a performance hit do you take. Thanks.
  8. We're in the same boat, although you're much farther along than I am. I've just done my first holster, a pocket holster for a 2" J-Frame Smith. It got a good reception at my club. Now, I need to be able to make more of them (as well as finish my tuckable IWB design). Ask a lot of questions here before you buy anything. Choice of a holster capable leather sewing machine is a HIGHLY technical matter. I was like the guy wanting to get into Olympic pistol shooting without knowing a Hammerli from a Hi Point.
  9. Thanks for the information. I'm completely ignorant of these things, so that's why I'm asking.
  10. Does anybody know anything about the Tacsew T111-155? Is $850 a reasonable price? Thanks.
  11. Thanks to you and everyone else for your replies so far. I'm a beginner at leather working and holster making, but am a long time gun owner and shooter. Given the apparent lack of gainful employment these days, I'm hoping to make at least a little money making concealment holsters. I've recently made my first holster, a pocket holster for my 2" S&W Model 36. Despite a trivial mistake here and there, I'm quite pleased with it. I just finished dying it. My next project is a tuckable IWB holster, since those are typically rather expensive. I'm having to borrow the money for the machine from relatives, so I'm trying to keep the cost down. Again, thanks for the information and I appreciate any more that everyone might have.
  12. I'm looking to get a sewing machine suitable for low to medium volume holster making. I'm planning on making pocket, IWB and belt slide holsters, along with a few other items. I've got around $500 to spend. Used is acceptable. Thanks in advance.
