Thanks for the reply Bruce. Yeah, that's what was weird about this handstitching bonded thread. It wasn't cut or anything, just seemed so loose that it bunched just from pulling it tight. Maybe I can get a sample of each and try to wax them to see which is best. Do you do anything special with the bonded when you need to wax it? Scot

If using 346 thread for hand-stitching, and buying nylon, which would hold wax better if waxing yourself, bonded or soft? I'm assuming soft, but don't have any experience. I got some ARCO "Nylon Waxed Hand Sewing" 5 cord thread and it tends to "bunch" when pullng tight. In other words, it sort of sticks on the awl hole and, in effect, untwists and bunches up. Really annoying. I'm trying to avoid this type of problem with the next thread I buy and will probably just end up waxing it myself. Any tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Savage

I've had one of the inexpensive digital calipers from ebay for a few months. I must have gotten a bad one because it eats batteries like crazy. If one wanted a good digital caliper, what are some recommendations for brand and retail outlet? And, what can I expect to spend to get a good one. I've been ordering waxed nylon bobbins from thethreadexchange in 277 and 415 sizes. I've found that I really need an "in-between" size. Does anybody know a source for waxed 346 in a variety of colors? Mostly what I use is white, off-white, beige, tan, brown and black. If there's no source for waxed, any sources for quality unwaxed 346 would also be aprreciated. I'm not a thread expert, so bear with my not knowing the correct terms. But, I like the thread to be 3 strand with a twist. Thanks all. Savage

I purchased a vintage Osborne round end punch set on the 'bay (how vintage, I have no idea). I only really need two or three of the sizes. And, I know nothing about the collectability of the set itself. So, my question is, is it ok to break up the set and sell off the other sizes? Or, is the set as a whole worth much more than the sum of its parts? Any guidance or reference materials/sites would be appreciated. Thanks.
