  1. Revolvers are tough. That's a really tough one. Really nice job. C.J.
  2. Awesome inlay. And I really like the double stitching around the inlay and the contrasting colors. Really good looking holster.
  3. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers or seem to know more then anyone. Certainly not someone with 40 plus years in the game. Just my opinion. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels as I do. C.J.
  4. I hate the sight of screw nuts on the back of a holster. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! Buy better quality nuts. Does milt sparks have exposed t-nuts? NO! Who sells more holsters? You or Milt Sparks? If it comes back fix it. Do it right or don't do it. No offense. Just a pet peeve. Send a letter with your holsters letting them know its not supposed to be used with a pneumatic driver. Puts it on them. And then still fix it!!!! Again no offense. C.J.
  5. I can never get the stitch line right on revolvers. Yours is perfect. Very nice. Really want that gun too.
  6. The post has a lot of warnings about using these types of magnets. Being right handed I'm not sure how I would get my wallet out without passing over the holster. Also everywhere I find that sells them uses only UPS for shipping with around a $15 minimum shipping cost. I have great local sorce for Pull-the Dot snaps so I think I'll stick with them. Still pretty cool but I see a lot of people possibly having issues with the magnets and the contents of their wallets. C.J.
  7. Does anyone know if the magnet comes countersunk for a flat head screw or just the cup. Description just mentions the cup. Thanks C.J.
  8. I have never seen them used before. Thanks for the info. Not much more expensive then snaps. May have to try them. Thanks again. C.J.
  9. http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=394285 Very cool new fastening system from Milt Sparks. I like the holster but its really nothing new but the magnetic fastener are very interesting. Not that the average holster maker could get ahold of them. Getting snaps can be a challenge when you only need a few. Happy Holidays C.J.
  10. A friend had helped me out on a couple of small projects lately and as a thank you I offered to make him a holster similar to one of mine he liked. I asked what color he would like expecting to hear saddle tan or black. He responded with "can ya make it blue". Well here it is. Cant really get a good pic of it and my camera battery died while trying. The holster is horsehide with cowhide belt loops. Dyed with Eco-Flo from Tandy. I know Eco-Flo has few fans but it really wasn't that bad. The horsehide came out great with about thee applications to get the dark navy color I was going for. The cowhide loops were not so easy. Probably six coats and still an odd color. I started buffy the loops and then oiling and the color finally came out decent. I like it especially with the white stitching. Its different for sure. Thanks for looking CJ
  11. I've gotten horsehides from Springfield and Zack White. The Zack White ones were much nicer. Larger and thicker. They were a few dollars more but much nicer. Still much prefer leather to the horse though. FWIW CJ
  12. Holster looks great. Revolvers can be a little tricky go get a good stitch line but it looks like you got it. As far as the head knife goes I put mine for sale on eBay after just about taking my thumb off. Still have a scare. I started using a pair of large shears I got from Tandy while they where on sale. They work great for me. And you can get similar at Lowes are any hardware. Much cheaper and safer. But everyone is different. CJ
  13. You can't tell from the photos but with the full thickness of the gun sticking out from the back there actually is room for a full grip. A side photo would show this. I normally sandwich my t nuts but the back pieces where so thin I couldn't with the t nuts I had on hand. Thanks for commenting and this style aint pretty but super comfortable Thanks CJ
  14. Thanks. I think I'll just leave it as is. It was just an experiment anyway. I've got one started for my lc9 that I'll put the effort into the finishing process on that one. Just wanted to say how comfortable but not so pretty a style of holster it is Thanks. CJ Thanks for posting yours. And yes it's very addictive. Good luck with the lefty holster have yet to do one. Thanks CJ
  15. I saw a post recently where a new poster showed a kinda hybrid style holster. It made me want to make one since I always read on other forums how great they are. I had some horsehide that was really thin and a section that was really thick but to small for anything so I used this for the holster. The back is two pieces of the really thin section totaling only about 6oz combined. The front is about 7 oz thickness. As you can see i really put no effort into the finishing prosess. Just cut, glued, stitched and put to use. No dye or finish. I finished the edges on the back piece but that was it. Wish I had went the extra mile on the finish details because this is the most comfortable holster I have ever used. Its as close to stuffing a gun into your waistband and going about your day as I have found. The thin back just forms to you and flexes as you move or sit. And the large size of the back spreads the weight of the gun over a large area. And the holster only adds about 1/4 inch to the thickness of the gun. It stays in place and the thickness of the front piece keeps it from collapsing when you draw the gun. I can see why this type of holster is praised so much. Guess I was just being a leather snob thinkin a little leather with some kydek and rivots would never work. May have to give those sheets of kydek I got from Springfield a try on the next one. Thanks for lookin. CJ I
  16. If I where you I would make up patterns and mock holsters for the IWB you have posted elswhere on here for the guns you have. Add to your site and a few forums and forget about money. Just awesome work. You will be very busy I think. And it's always ok to say NO! It's hard but it's ok. CJ
  17. Thanks. I figured a pic would show the thickness better then i could tell ya. The bottom is 8/9oz leather. The brown middle is the caiman and the yellow top is the ostrich leg. CJ
  18. Thanks No I didnt dye the back. It was a yellowish color(buttercup from Springfield). I Dyed after molding with just a light coat of Feibings oil dark brown. It got really dark and splotchy. Thought I had ruined it and would have to dye it black to fix it but it completely lighted up and evened out. The mag pouch didnt even out as well but it was the first try on that pattern and it needs some adjusting. Good luck with your ostrich. I think you will really like it. CJ
  19. Man ostrich leg makes a stiff holster. This thing is as stiff as a kydek holster. Its 8oz leather with the ostich and caiman on the front. The ostrich was a little tricky to dye but other than that it was not a problem at all. When first dying it was really dark and splotchy but it evened out and lightened up as it dryed. Thanks for looking CJ
  20. Sorry bout that. Was going on what I was told. CJ
