  1. Thanks guys. After talking with him he has decided on the "Buckskin" dye from Fiebings. Thank you for the help you two.
  2. Looks awesome. Right now I'm just making gun holsters but would like to move into carving one day. Great motivation right there for me.
  3. Thank you for all the advice! I used medical cloth tape with an over wrap of electrical tape and it was perfect. A machine... maybe one day... if I can keep selling product. Thanks!
  4. I have a friend who wants me to make him a "Coyote Tan" colored holster. He is Special Forces Airborne and would like the holster to be coyote tan to match his uniform. He is re-deploying next month. I cant find anything at my local Tandy store, was hoping someone here would share some of their knowledge and let me know where to find this dye if it is available, or if this is just a pipe dream. The following photo is the color I am trying to get close to. Thank you!
  5. One of my first holsters I ever made, and my first ever with a thumb break, so dont expect it to be perfect, but its an idea if nothing else. I could post some design stage pics if that might help with your layout.
  6. So ya, I've been hand sewing a bunch of holsters recently and 3 of my fingers have really bad cuts in them from pulling the thread tight after each stitch. just wondering what the leatherworker.net mindhive does to solve this problem. I was thinking of using some light weight leather to make some "sleeves" or whatever for my most used fingers but wonder if this would just make my clumsy. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks Dan
  7. I've been using the eco-flo all in one and also the eco-flo water based coal black. If I dont dip dye with the coal black I make sure the leather is fairly wet before I dye with a sponge. Results are much better than when I tryed to dye dry.
  8. Beautiful work right there. What are you sandwiching the holster in to get it to take shape? I was thinking of using a couple 2" think pieces of semi-soft rubber?
