  1. Oh dear! I asked this a while back, and it seemed to have struck a nerve with some here. I'm still not sure why. Good luck!

there has been two instances of customers shooting themselves in the hand in okc within the last 3 months.. one customer was pushing a bersa into a new holster that was real tight and bang part of missing finger. he is supposed to be suing both gun and holster maker.. next one was in bass pros parking lot same thing fitting gun in new holstter while sitting in his car bang shot in leg

  2. Hi, Iam making a poly maul.I bought a ft. long piece of white poly.I cut it with a sawsall which got hot and melted it a little in the saw cut.How do you cut yours? Thanks, navy

you might be able to find someone with a wood or metal lathe that could cut to length. check with a local wood crafters store or a local vo tech school if you have one. if cut on a lathe you will get nice smooth straight ends

  3. Hey Folks,

I was diving deep within the bowels of this forum ( sounds gross when I read it back to myself) about a month ago. I came across something that now I can barely remember but would like too. It was concerning a plastic backing piece that would fit into the backside of a snap to keep it from contacting gun metal. Does anyone have any recollection of this item?

    Thanks,

    TR

high desert leather has them in their do it yourself section

  4. a have found a adler 205 for sale locally. it is a german made machine and looks nice in photos. question, is it any better than the 441 copies, it is about the same price as a new clone but i will probably have to put a dc motor on the adler i mainly make holsters and belts . old story new machine customer service warranty or older machine no warranty. thanks

  5. Hi Folks, well I went to the gun store to buy a few small items. While there I lost control of my will and bought a new 1911 by Rock Island officers .45 ACP

Here's the question, has anyone tried making a set of grips from leather? I imagine that it would be nice to tool and set of grips to match a holster. When I force dry my holsters they end up fairly stiff. So I'm thinking why not grips? I Think natural oils form my hands will be ok, the weathered look of sun tanned leather is ok......

Anyone done this, any pics or posts to see/read?

    Thanks in advance.

    Fredo

congrats on the 1911/ my favotite i have been thinking about the same thing.. you could glue and sew 2 layers like a belt with a filler in between to round out the outside. 1911 grips are rounded not flat. inside filler would reinforce the mounting screws. filler could be kydex . by the way springfield leather will give you a piece of kydex to play with

  6. I bought one of the grab bags from Springfield Leather and it came with a variely of elephant hides, different colors, textures, and patterns. Some of it is meh, some of it looks awesome.

Just wondering if anyone has worked with it on a holster before, and if so, can the edges be burnished like regular cowhide or does something different need to be done to it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Dan

i also just received a bag of elephant and a bag of ostrich. have not had time to do anything with it , but it has some nice pieces in them

  7. I don't own the roller guide attachment yet. I wanted to buy it, but after sewing these without it, I don't really think I need it. Wasn't too hard to keep straight.

Yep - it took a while to sew them, but probably only about 5 minutes if I had to guess. The worst part was running out of bobbin thread on my belt when I was about 4 inches from the end.... LOL

Wishing for a powered machine one of these days... :)

wonder if you can use prewound bobbins in a tippmann boss? mine had one in the box when i bought it but i havent tried one yet. they usually hold more thread than you can wind on by hand

  8. if you live in a large city you should be able to buy auto or interior upholstery leather at a wholesaler. if you live in a small town check with a local auto upholstery shop, they should be able to order for you. use a high density foam. nothing worse than having your backside bottom out . if you have spare time build me one too

  9. look at the exploded view in the parts section on tippmanns web site. very simple design , very little to go wrong. 2 air valves and a quick exhaust valve to release. has a air bladder that inflates instead of a mechanical linkage and air cylinder

  10. Just curious how many of you use these on your holsters.

If so, where do you buy them... and are they set with the tools as regular line 24 snaps?

Also, I'd like to buy some in black but I'm only finding them in quantities of 100+. Right now I can't justify spending that much on snaps. Does anyone sell them in smaller quantities?

    Thanks :)

try sailrite.com , many fasteners are used in boating usually stainless steel
