  1. Two new bags recently completed by TaurusSeats. They are most suitable for H-D Softail models. All 100% handsitiched.

One features the Black Widow spider. Second we call "Yorick", as it features the white skull.

We've posted them for sale and, as usual, we see coments about the price... I am sure this sounds familiar to many forum members :)

Those are Sweet! I have a Road Glide but seeing those makes me want to go buy a softail

  2. Hi !

I would like to show you a corset I made for a friend's fantasy themed wedding. It is made from 3mm vegtan shoulder, dyed with eco-flo pro and finished with an homemade blend of caranuba wax and neatsfoot oil. The black herringbone lacing is made with kangaroo lace. I have some room of improvement, especially with my carving, which is something I don't do often and need practicing.

I have used this pattern several times in differents sizes and it has come from a long way of trials and errors but I think I'm getting to the shape I want. I am in the process of writing a tutorial about it and I would like to know if you think that I can sell the pattern (in a near future, I still have some work to draw it multi-size in my CAD software) and if yes what cost would you think fair ?

    Best regards,

    Leo.

  3. Thanks!! But what I need is a tutorial on how to braid like that. I have never braided anything other than my hair when I was you.(long story)

i would say 4 strand chap leather, probably braided around a rope core....when i googled it i found them from 25 to 48 inches long. the end part is finished with just a wrap and then the ends are split to make the streamers...

  5. Looks great!! Do you happen to have any pictures of the reverse side?

This is my first IWB holster as well as the first holster that came out ok, in my opinion. My others were a little rough. Just bought this pistol and I intend to carry concealed so I thought I should make a IWB holster. Had some problems with finish, as always. I recently started airbrushing the stain on so let me know what you think. Briar brown with coal black faded along the outside. Finished with tan-coat. I really don't get why tan-coat doesn't water protect the stain. I touched the holster with a damp hand and had a fingerprint where it took off the stain. Do you guys all use resolene with good results? Let me know what you think. I am still very new to the game so any feedback is helpful.

  6. although I dont have much experience I would think you could use a dark Dye over it

Had a small splash of green dye get on an unfinished belt. Naturally this is the good spirit based stuff, and wasn't nice enough to land on a spot that I could simply work it into the design. Not sure if simply dying over it with something like a real dark brown or black would adequately hide it. So figured I'd ask for ideas before making it worse or cutting the belt down to midget size :)

  7. I found these two using google

    http://rojeleather.com/

    http://www.exoticleather.biz/index.html

I figured I would post this here since its exotic but I guess it could go in the supplier forum too.

I am looking for a supplier for shark and stingray. It doesn't have to be the "best, best, best" quality as I am just starting out with it all so money is a bit of a factor...sadly.

I did a search on here and found a previous post that is very similar and got a bunch of names from that one but can't actually find anything on their sites.

So if you could please help that would be awesome. Thanks!

    Darren

  8. Can some on please explain how to make a traditional welt in a sheath I want to make a sheath for my large survival knife but I want to protect the stitching so how do I do this?

    I am a smith,

Yes could you make a sheath with rolled edges, sure, it would be an ugly sheath. I would agree with Ellen part of building a sheath is how it looks. Building a nice sheath with a welt is easy and does not take up that much leather.

  9. Tom

Do you have a tutrotial or a write up on howd to dye items like that?

    Thanks

    Jeff

Oh my...thank you very much Daniel!!! Not only do I get to spend some time on my favourite board today but seeing this is very nice!!!

As I often say in my postings (I hope) I owe it all to the members and people behind this board and the gathered skill here that has has taught me alot and I think I'm gunna continue to pick up more skills from here. Like blockdyeing..citizenKate inspiration and there is a bunch of people that I have looked too and picked up more and more carving/tooling skills.

I too have done alot of copying and borrowing ideas but allways try to incorprate some sort of own twist to it. It's a natural way of learning so thanky you and all the good people here at the board, you are great!!!!

    Keep at it!!!

    Tom

  10. Very Nice Fredo! Some day we will have to get together so you can teach me the way! hahah

A few weeks ago a friend's wife and I decided to suprise him with a carry holster fo his Kimber Ultra Carry II. Funny thing is that after I started on his holster he contacted me and wanted to order one. I had to lie and tell him I was abit busy and would get back to him later. 2 Days later he got this in the mail. Zero cant OWB. He sent me these photos a cpl of days ago. The texas star concho was used because he is a retired Texas LEO. He thinks that was a nice touch...what can I say so do I.

  11. Is this pattern to scale? Meaning if I blow it up will all the peices be the correct size?

    Thanks

    Jeff

Here is the orginal scallop design pattern that I developed with Peter Hackbarth based off my original design in 1992. This is recognizable as the Instroke Cowboy pattern that is one of the most copied (and still asked for) designs of the last 18 years.

For all you aspiring cue case makers this is enough to get you started making cue cases as you can modify any of these parts to suit your needs. This is for a 2x4 (to hold 2 butts and 4 shafts) - hopefully I don't need to tell you how to modify the parts to fit any size and shape of case. Hint: Don't stretch them. Below is a small image representing the parts. This is also made to wrap around a hard shape such as pluming tubes bound together or a single plastic tube. Lately I have made one without a a hard interior and it turned out well but I am experimenting with a new material I found that is stiff and bends well without stressing to make the case as a in-between type between soft and hard.

You can download the full size pattern at this link: http://www.jbcases.com/patterns/

The files are in PDF, CMX (CorelDraw) and AI (Adobe Illustrator)
