  2. Mike, You got style and class! All are very nice. Bill
  3. It's what my 12 year old wanted on his belt, but buying all those bullet concho's would be rather spendy, so, I came up with a fair compromise. Thanks for chiming in! Bill
  4. Thanks Damon, I took a look at the Bighousedaddy's link. I just might buy his tutorial. Looks like the basics will be the same, just adapt it to the style I want. Bill
  5. Thanks for the welcome, Kings X. I saw your work... Very nice! Bill
  6. Any direction on where I could find a template for an Austrailian Outback hat pattern? Bill
  7. Hello johnj, I'm not one to give an official welcome, as I'm just a newby to this site this month as well, however, I wanted to say hi and happy tooling! Sounds like you've been busy since Christmas. It's great that you found this site, so early into your leather work journey, because you will be well taught here and will be inspired to achieve greater levels. Looking forward to seeing the progression of your work! Bill
  8. You did real good! I would have been pleased with that if my first piece looked that good. Happy pounding! Bill
  9. 1+ years tooling. 40 years ago I took a 4-H leather class with 2 brothers. One brother has stayed with it and does very nice high end work. He's my inspiration to taking it up once again. I don't sell. Family gifts consume most of it. I just enjoy the 'Me' time. My leather room faces a pretty little river where I enjoy a shot of Jameson, listen to Merle and pound some leather. It's peaceful. It works for me. I don't always follow the pre-made designs. I seem to come up with these ideas, search for photos that come close and sketch them into something I like. It usually turns out okay, depending on how much Jameson I had! :} I have a lot to learn. This web site is already helping me in many ways. Thank you. Blessings to you all, Bill
  10. Well thank you all very much! This is a great help. I conjure-up a few things and put 'er together. I sure appreciate the help from all of you! Bill
  11. I'd like some help on how to get good pictures of leather work. What would you recommend for; Lighting sources, background, positioning... bla bla bla... I don't have a nice studio, nor a computer editing program. I can, however, resize the photo to fit on the web site and have an incondesent drop light or two. I've struggled with a few pics and found yellow, shadows, glare and fuzzyness. (Wait, is fuzzyness a word?) :} Please help before I throw that darn digital camera into the river! Thanks, Bill
  12. Nice job! I like the choice of pattern for that piece. Did you use a sewing machine for that stitch, or are you just that good at stitching?
