  1. grammyd, You nailed it! Great likeness! Thanks for showing the side by side. I vote no on the blanket. I think it would add an obscure object in the foreground that may distract (or upstage) the primary subject. The carving as it stands features the child as main focus and is obviously in front of anything else. Therefore, I am not distracted by anything but that cute little baby. Very nice work, indeed. Bill
  2. grammyd, Congradulations! A wonderful work of art! I'd like to see the side-by-side pics showing the real thing and the portrait. Bill
  3. The Girzz got it goin on! Way to go Craig! Bill
  4. Boy, Dude, you need a tri pod for that camera, or quit drinking! :} Nahhh... just get the tri pod. I like it. Like the conchos and the lace. The overall design is a nice presentation. Good work. Looks like 1 1/2" down to ???" I'm about to make something similar (wave type) and was wondering how low do I go with the valleys. From 1 1/2 down to... say 1"? I'll play with a design or two but would like to know what others prefer. Thanks for sharing, Bill
  5. I think you're just having too much fun with your designs. This one is great! Looks like something Annie Oakley would wear in an old Wild West Show. May I ask, What do you do with all these rigs you make? And, do you have a web site address were we can view your creations? I really enjoy your work. Like a Thomas Kinkade painting makes you want to be there in the scene, your work evokes that kind of a feeling. Thanks for sharing! Bill
  6. Well, it may not be so much of a concern anyway. Sounds like it will be a Planet Wave Gel guitar strap shoulder pad. It should measure out to be about 13" long X 3" wide. I'm sure it will sew onto the inside of the strap liner and, by the looks of the photo, I shouldn't have to do any special trimming to it (outside of trim off the velcro strap on the back). I'm thinking this may be better than trying to put a gel pad under the liner. Bill (Hey, I got the spelling right! Gel).
  7. I'd like to get some feed back on using jell padding. Customer says he has a heavy guitar and wants jell in it. Is there anything different involved with adding jell? I think he's going to opt for a 10-11 oz strap with a soft liner and jell inside. He'll provide the jell pack. Should have a design this weekend. Thanks for the help, Bill
  8. I'd say your hitting pretty heavy with those three. Home run! Outta the park! Bill
  9. Thanks for the comments, folks! Shooter55, What a treat it would be to hear the stories your aunt could tell. Quite the different life she had, I'm sure. Thanks for the note on the gun size. If this guy had a replica gun, I'm sure we would have gone all out to make a real close replica rig. As it is, he's perfectly happy with this 'style and likeness' of the Duke rig, even though the gun it's self is a bit large. No matter how you look at it, this style of belt and holster is great for all around hunting and outdoor activity. Bill
  10. I've been searching for pics of a black Cash rig and so far no luck. Rather than sitting down and watching several Cash movies, I thought I'd ask here. Was there a standard rig he always wore or simply a black belt and holster? Thanks for your help, Bill
  11. MikTigger, Good observation! I'll open my own brand of "Dog Chews" next month! Tree Reaper, I agree... keep it out of reach or keep the dog in the kennel. She's never chewed anything before so this was a big surprise. She's 3 years old and knows better, so I had good justification to spank her. Oh, you said "beat"? No, "I wooped her a good one for that". I don't "beat" animals. I train them. Bill
  12. Finished the belt and holster, then a week later, he wanted a sheath for his knife to go with the belt. All he asked for was a Scimitar blade on it. So, I came up with this. Gun is a 44 Mag with 9" barrel. Holster loop and knife sheath display his initials MW so I made them to resemble mountain peaks. I gave him an extra blank holster loop, in case he wanted to switch to a more traditional Duke rig look. Belt is 4 + 4 oz, holster is 8 + 4 oz, sheath is 4 + 4 oz. Herman Oak. Bill
  13. I'll toast a pint to that! And a fine job it be! Bill
  14. Gee Zigmars, You do such good work, sorry to hear it's one of your last projects! I hope you meant "latest" projects? :} Very cool belt. Excellent job all around! Bill
  15. Thanks for sharing, Prince. And thanks for the close ups. I enjoy looking for all the detail. WOW! Way to go! I do not envy the headaches and lack of sleep you must have had in creating, designing and building this. I do envy the final product, as it is a true masterpiece! Bill
  16. Hey Bryan, you're well on your way. It'll work out just fine. Funny how we choose to do involved projects when we first start. It can get overwhelming at times. This is looking good and she'll like it (or else!). :} To keep the cover closed... hummm... you could do a strap all the way around it. Like a belt. Not secured to the cover at all. Just slips over tightly and holds it together. I've also see and elastic cord that could do the same thing. Just a thought. Bill
  17. Good idea on the key word "Leather". I think I'll use it as if it were a "bad thing" to chew. She'll catch my tone. (She's in heat right now and, with a dog, that causes her to act a little different sometimes). Been lucky on the loafers and leather chair (so far). Bill
  18. She chewed up the old cell phone holster! So, guess what I'm doing today! Glad it wasn't a project for someone else. This better not happen again, or else! She's normally a good little Springer and I wooped her a good one for that, so, I'm sure she'll think twice next time. She knows I have a shotgun! Bill
  19. Hi Maciej, You sure nailed the character in that hunk of bone! I love his look! Looks like he's really enjoying the ride. Great show of creativeness with the letters that become the handlebars, cool looking fingers and I like the extra dents scattered here and there. Real nice work. Bill
  20. Just finished (well, almost). Still need to do the final mold to his 44 mag and secure the holster loop. First full rig and I'm happy with it. Makes me really want to buy a sewing machine! Bill
  21. Thanks, Mike. I checked it out and it looks okay. Not convinced yet. I'll keep looking around for something that says... "Yes, I'm the holster you want to make!". Bill
  22. Chesty Puller Shoulder holster I like this design and would like more info on it. It was suggested that it may offer good support for a S&W 500 mag. Bill Alright here's the pic...
  23. Hey, wait a minuet! That belt is not for a 32" waist! And the bullets were supposed to be 44 mag! Now, I'm not going to pay for that. Oh, I'll take it off your hands, even though it's all wrong, but I won't pay for it. No Sir. :} (Just had to find something to complain about!) Some people have an eye for design. You not only have that talent, you also have style and class. Superb job, KT. (Perhaps your next one will be just the right size and caliber!) Bill
  24. So, how do you use that fencing gorget? My son has been a fencer for years and I've never seen nor heard of that. Both projects look real good. Nice edges and stitching. I like the color on the belt pouch. Bill
  25. Make that belt for a 32 waist and I'll be quite happy with that rig! Thanks, Bill
