  1. Thanks for the input! Right now I'm leaning towards the Cobra Class 4, however I just made a big equipment purchase so it will be a while before I'm ready to make the jump.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion! I never considered such a piece of equipment but I was able to find a 20 ton punch press locally for $800. I'm picking it up tomorrow! I think it will work great. Thanks!
  3. I'm thinking about offering two layer leather belts as an option to my customers (along with a few other side projects). I would like to be able to handle two layers of 7-8 oz leather. What would you suggest? Thanks!
  4. Any idea where to find an electric 5 ton punch press?
  5. I'm am in need of stamping custom logos on a few thousand pieces of veg tanned leather per month. I plan on using a custom cut stamp (approx 1.25 x 2.5") and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!
  6. My example was from a leather good made by a major holster manufacturer (safariland), a pretty inexpensive item.
  7. So I'm looking for a very specific type of leather, I have a sample of it but haven't found anything quite like it. I'll try my best to describe it. It is a drum dyed leather, 4-5 oz, black. It feels like veg tanned to me, but the surface is (hair side) is firmer, almost as if it was rolled. The surface has a very consistent texture, which once again makes me believe it is some type of rolled leather. It is surprisingly scratch resistant which is one reason why I want it (and the firmness is a desirable quality for this item). I know that isn't much to go buy, but can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  8. I'm in need of a clicker press, unfortunately the 20 ton shop press method won't work for me. I need a swing arm clicker (or a traveling clicker). I've been seeing this presses from Ebay and am wondering if any of you have experience with them. Unfortunately the Shop I'm in now doesn't have 3 phase power, so that would be an added expense for a 3 phase converter (I suppose I could go VFD as well) Here is a link to the listings I've been looking at, realistically I'll go with the smallest machine that will meet my needs, but the traveling head clicker would be the easiest to use (Its wide enough that I could fashion a roller to allow me to handle an entire side) 10 ton http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hydraulic-Swing-Arm-Clicker-Press-10-Ton-NEW-1yr-warranty-/111034794444?pt=BI_Textile_Equipment&hash=item19da3081cc 25 ton http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hydraulic-Swing-Arm-Clicker-Press-25-Ton-BRAND-NEW-1yr-Warranty-/111024163753?pt=BI_Textile_Equipment&hash=item19d98e4ba9 Traveling Head (25 ton) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beam-Clicker-Press-25-Ton-BRAND-NEW-1yr-warranty-/111024181653?pt=BI_Textile_Equipment&hash=item19d98e9195 I'm also wondering if you guys have any advice on the tonnage I will need. I am looking to cut 10 oz veg tan, pieces approx 8"x 8" with multiple 1/4" holes in the die. Thanks!
  9. I'm having a heck of a time finding gun molds for the Sig 1911's, I'm about to put in a custom order at Duncans, but that requires that I buy 6 freakin molds. I'll sell them for my cost just to offset the expense. Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Clay
  10. I'll take the K frame. IM sent
  11. Group is now public, no need to ask to join.
  12. It's a private group, you just need to request and you'll get approved. There is NO PRICE ADVANTAGE. I believe they will ship directly to you. The only advantage is you can get a specific gun molded that may not be otherwise offered by Duncans,Rings, or ASP. For example, I'm looking for a mold for the Sig P290 w/ sig laser. But can't find a mold for it. I'm hoping if we get enough people they will make it up for us.
  13. If you are a holster maker you may be interested in gun molds but may not be able to find any. I've talked to Duncans customs and am getting together a buyers group for aluminum gun molds. All it takes is 5 buyers and we can place an order Simply go here to join the group and start getting on lists to buy. https://groups.googl...ld-buyers-group Thanks! Clay

  15. Ah, the problem is I'm not doing straps, but edges of holsters and other complex shapes.
  16. I'm spending a lot of time doing edge beveling and am wondering if you are aware of any methods or tools of doing mechanical edge beveling. Initially I was thinking about some type of router, but I'm not sure if that would work. Any thoughts? Thanks, Clay
  17. I'm looking for a general purpose machine to handle light leather sewing (max total thickness of 1/4"), webbing, and other heavy fabrics. From the research I've been doing recently I'm looking at two specifically. The Consew 206 RB-5 (upgraded to servo motor) and an Artisan 618-1 SC. I'm wondering if someone could help me identify the critical differences between these two machines. The cost of both is acceptable. I'm especially concerned about longevity and parts availability. Thanks! Clay
  18. A while back there used to be another company making aluminum gun replicas, I believe it was Lindell Training Guns. Does anyone know if they are still in business and if so who to contact? Thanks, Clay
  19. I'm always looking to add aluminum gun molds to my collection if I don't have them. I you have some you would like to sell, please PM me. Thanks!
  20. I'm always in the market for more aluminum gun molds. If I don't have it, and you want to sell it I'll pay $45 each. Please get in touch with me via PM if you have some you want to sell! Thanks!
  21. I am looking for quotes on sewing two 1x1.5" pieces of velcro onto 3-4 oz leather. Batches of 30 pieces of leather (60 pieces of velcro ) will be shipped to you to be sewn, shipped back to me for assembly. Initial workload would be about one batch of 30 every 6-8 weeks with potential for growth. I expect this product to be selling for a number of years, and prefer to work with the same person. Please quote price per batch of 30, Leather and velcro will be shipped to you. Contact me for more detail Thanks! Clay
  22. RMB is the way to go. That's where I get all of my blue molds.
  23. I'll post my list to get started. -Taurus PT145 -Sig 1911 w/ Rail -Jericho 941 -Bersa 45 -Bersa 380 -Bersa BP9CC -Browning Buckmark -CZ 2075 Rami -HK P2000 -HK P2000SK -KelTec P11 -Para Ordnance LDA -Ruger LCR 38spc -Sig P232/P230 -Taurus PT 145 -Taurus 24/7 A number of these I can get in blue guns, but I prefer the Aluminum when I work with Kydex. Thanks, Clay Yes, that is indeed a limiting factor in some cases. But I think there are a number of guns out there he could cast if there was sufficient interest. Thanks, Clay
