  9. Hi all, Not sure if anyone else has tried it, but I picked up a 2 oz. bottle of Leather Magic by Core Products the other day from a janitorial supply store. It claimed to clean, restore and protect fine leather and vinyl, and for $3.00 for 2 oz. to try it I couldn't resist. Tried it for finishing a sword frog I made tonight, and have to say I am very impressed. The edges got very smooth with a small amount of Leather Magic and a burnishing tool, much better than the fiebing's aussie leather conditioner that I tried the week before. I still love Doc Bailey's Leather Tonic, but this may prove to be right up there with it. I highly recommend giving it a try, and if you can't find it locally, it can be found online at very reasonable costs by searching for Core Leather Magic. Give it a try, if you don't like it, you're not out much, but I am really impressed with it.

  16. Hi all, My first attempt at a leather helmet was frustrating and didn't turn out to my standards, as well as being too small for my unusually large cranium! It was from a pattern on armourarchive.org. http://www.armourarchive.org/patterns/leatherhelm_gerhard/ I will post a pic of mine ASAP In the meantime, I would like your thoughts on how to go about forming the leather, patterns, order of processes, such as what order to rivet each piece, should I form and dye the leather prior to assembly, and any useful ideas or comments Here are a few pics of the type of helmet I am trying to make Thanks for any and all input

  18. Sorry about the picture size, had to upload it from my phone, and wasn't sure how it would look viewed with a pc web browser. The streaking was the dyeing method, fiebings med. brown streaked with a wool dauber.
  19. 6/7 oz veg tan fiebings dye, doc Bailey's leather tonic treated
