I have noticed the same issue with mine. It is a problem with the botom roller, but I believe that the gear is not perfect, because it only does it at certain points on the gear when turning. Let me know what you figure out, I am trying to correct he problem myself.

I just got my LLC up and running, and while yes techinacly I get a discount because I do not have to pay sales tax when I purchase materials, it is just easier to pay for a membership to tandy or like company. The paperwork needed for a Business is crazy, and not something I recomend just to get cheaper goods, plus the taxes are a pain already, and i have only had the business for a few months.

How d oyou keep the leather up that way? Wouldn't it start to hair up real bad like a piece of carpet?

I do not know if lexol would help in this case. Do you have a picture so that I can see what you are talking about? it may just need a little watter on a sponge to wash it off, but I still would try it on a small spot first.

Unless the cover was handmade, then there is no telling what was actualy used to treat the leather. There is also no way to tell how it will react to what you have. I find it odd that sweaty hands are leaving stains on a finished piece. However best thing to do is find a small spot where you can test the product that you want to use, and see if make a difference to the leather.

I should have thought before I hit post...................... If the reign end is in a comon size, just use a belt tip. They come in buckle sets. The odds of finding them to be an exact match for reign ends may be hard. Depending on the price for the piece, You can always work with a local silversmith. I have had someone do trophy buckles for me and have always been happy wih their work.

I believe Bison is correct about the picture. It appears it was done by hand. I ahve done a few belts like this. While it can be a pain, on a large design wit hlots of holes, it is not too bad once you get used to it. The right brush is improtant though.

I love the design. I also have to coat all my tandy leather with NeatsFoot oil as well. It starts off very light.

I use material X 2 plus hourly rate. It take forever to get your material prices and timing correct, but once you do, you can quote something in just a few seconds, and be pretty darn accurate.

I am not sure what the closest Tandy store to you is, but just go in and have a look, they should have their class schedule posted in the store somewhere. I know the store here in Mesquite is doing something at least once a week at this point.

I have not had any issues with supersheen. Generaly, I apply it with a cloth instead of a dauber. YOu are going to have to use a cloth or a spray to get it on your pieces correctly. Also it works similar to die, if you let it pool in 1 spot, it will change color or look slightly uneven. You also have to even out the bubles if it bubbles up on you any. Then just buff it, and it will turn out fine. However most of the other suggestions on here will work fine as well, I use resolene quite a bit as well.

A weather sealant should help. I usualy use a water sealant on all my belts, and have never had any blue come off on any, but they wern't in my pockets. On a side note I have noticed that my dark blue jeans will get dye on almost anything in my pocket whne they are wet.

I have to agree with Art. I have several fairies in the shop, that seem to only give things back when I buy a new one. I expect to see my #2 edge beveler back any day now, since I bought one this weekend.
