Looking For Swivel Snap Hooks For 1"-Straps
Schpacko replied to Schpacko's topic in Hardware and Accessories
Awesome. Thank you very much guys. -
Hi Guys Any ideas where i can find a Swivel Snap Hook like this, made out of solid brass and with an opening for 1 inch (or even better: 1.25 inches) straps?

Hi guys I am using the professional oil dyes from Fiebing. I like them, but i am also a little bit bored of the colours, so i decided to experiment with mixing some of the colours, but it seems like i am not very talented at it Two Recipes that "kinda" worked were 3 parts light brown 1 parts green --> olive green 3 parts light brown 1 part mahagony --> a nice, reddish brown I would love to get a recipe for some sort of grey, but every other recipe is fine as well. Please do note which kind of dye you are using (manufacturer, name, etc) Thanks in advance Cheers Schpacko

Hey Guys I am looking for Rivets like those on the picture below. Problem with the Rapid Rivets oder Double Cap Rivets from Tandy is that the stem is usually too long for only one layer of leahter. Any ideas?

Okay, so it seems that a bissonnette edger is the way to go. After a bit of research, i think Barry King will be my choice. Which one would you guys choose? The "Bissonnette Edger" or the "Sharp Curve Edger"? Also, are those (and also the normal edgers) easy to sharpen?
-
Yeah, i own all of them and they are amongst my favourite tools over all. But the problem isn't the burnishing, the problem is the bevelling (removing the edge).
-
Hi guys Currently i am using a normal edger from tandy for all kind of edges. Now i am having trouble when it comes to curves with very small radius. One of these corners i am talking about is the one highlighted on this picture: Looks like i need a new edger... Any tipps for me?

Hi Guys What is the toughest, most durable Thread for hand stitching out there that you know? I usually use 18/4 barbour linen thread (beeswaxed before use), but i had some cases of fraying after about 1 year of use (iPhone-cases), which is not acceptable for the level of quality i am going for. I read that some polyester threads are much tougher than linen... can you guys confirm that? Cheers Schpacko

One of my favourite Pieces because of it's simplicity and usability: Once more, its made of 5oz veg tan and its hand stitched. Cheers

Notebook cover, made with 5oz veg tan, hand stitched with 18/4 linen thread.

Thanks. As far as i know, the loop with the ring was originally used to attach a sabre to the belt. Nowadays, the guys actually do attach their keys, or a chain for the wallet.

Quick Update This is how my belt turned out: As you can see, i just stiched the flap along with the buckle fold. I am "kinda happy" with the result. I'm not completely satisfied with my stitching work, but most of all, i'm pretty p*ssed that i stitched the keeper loop a little bit crooked, which is pretty eye-catching in the first picture.... But over all, it's not that bad, i guess. Thanks for the help guys. Cheers Schpacko

Wow.... Whats so special about them? Producing these should be much easier than a trigger hook, for example....
-
Hey guys Any sources for hooks like this one?: http://www.goodsjapan.jp/servlet/the-3291/Leather-Craft-Hardware%2C-Plain/Detail I love the one above, but the i hate the price.... Cheers

Awesome, thanks a lot. I just found out that this auctually is a Dukes Belt. --> hundreds of pictures but i cant find i single one that shows the backside
-
No, unfortunately i dont. Cheers Schpacko

As far as i know, the guy uses it just as a regular belt to wear with jeans. He just likes the look oft it.
-
Hey guys So a costumer wants a belt like this: How would you attach this flap to the rest of the belt? To me, it looks like it has been attached on three positions: First with the stitiching line in the middle of the belts width (hidden by the strap that holds the D-Ring). Second and third, whit the stitchings that cross the edge of the belt, very close to the buckle. What do you think? Any ideas how this type of belt is called, so maybe i can find some more pictures?

The only "real" way for me to secure a buckle fold of a belt is to do it like Al Stohlman does in his book about hand stitching. This is a belt i made: I really love the look and i dont want to change the style. BUT... its a real pain in the neck for me and i would love to get some tipps from you guys. Its pretty thick leather, about 15oz and 18/6 linen thread that i use. If i try to do it like Stohlman (Just mark the stitching points and stab through) usually ends in a desaster. Especially on the backside and especially in the area of the keeper loop. Its just too hard to stab through 3 thick layers of leather while trying not to damage the keeper loop. So, i stab all the holes before i start stitching. Its much easier this way, but its still extremely difficult for me. So, any tipps for me? Any tricks to make it easier? Thanks in advance Cheers Schpacko

Case For 20 Credit Cards
Schpacko replied to Schpacko's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nope, not acceptable in this case. But thanks for the link anyway, i'm sure i could use these in other projects. Ah, that doesnt look bad at all. Definitely a good hint, thanks a lot. Well, maybe i should have written "various cards in credit card format." -
Hi guys A friend asked me if i could make a case that can hold up to 20 credit cards. I dont need slots or something like that, it would be okay if theres just one "room" for a big pile of cards, because these will be the cards you dont really use on a regular basis. Ideas? Suggestions? I was thinking about something like one of those cases they make for playing cards, but i'm not completely happy with that idea.... cheers Schpacko

Hi guys Yeah, it's me again... Can anybody tell me the difference between a quarter moon knife like this and a normal head knife like this: except for the shape, of course I've been cutting my leather with a utility knife so far, but i feel like i need a "real" knife. I know the head knife is much more popular, but i'm kind of drawn towards the other one... I want to use it as an all around knife, for general cutting and skiving purposes. Any tipps? Pro's and Con's?

Thank you very much. I think i need some more practice, but it works already pretty good. Cheers Schpacko
