  1. Dan I have one you can borrow.
  2. Paul that is a custom mix of Angelus cordovan, Fiebings dark brown and Fiebings saddle tan cut with denatured alcohol. Took me forever to get the right mixture. I ended up making 4 gallons after it was all said and done LOL
  3. I have used Hermann Oak grade B grade sides from Springfield and love that stuff. It cuts nice and is really consistent. I have also bought sides of HO from Weaver Leather and have been very happy with it. I do want to try some Wickett and Craig soon. I just bought a piece of the horse butt Springfield Leather advertises for $12 and made the pancake with reinforcement piece holster below with it. I used 346 thread and 277 in my bobbin using a Tippmann Boss. If you want a little higher riding holster just adjust your belt placement a little lower on your pattern. I also made an avenger style OWB holster this past week using some of the Springfield Leathers 8/9 oz Hermann Oak grade B sides for a 5" 1911. I prefer 8/9 or even 9/10oz for 1911's and all steel handguns. Polymer guns like the Springfield XD you can get away with 7/8oz leather. I like both the Pancake style and avenger style but if I had my choice it would be the avenger style.
  4. I am making my first thumb break holster using 7/8 oz HO leather and have a few questions. I purchased some thumb break metal reinforcement pieces and some from Tim over at High Desert Leather and realized I need some rivets to attach them. What rivets are you all using to attach the metal reinforcement piece. I see Ohio Travel Bag has Jiffy Rivets and I already have my tax ID with them so I was probably going to order from them. What size for 7/8 oz leather? What size for 9/10 or can I get away with the same size for 7/8 oz leather? Single or double cap style for thumb breaks? What snaps are you all using? I have both Line 24 and Pull the Dot snaps. I really like the look of Brigade Gunleathers pancake holsters w/ thumbbreak and wanted to do something similiar.
  5. I am sure its not that hard. For me is it worth my time to make my own or just purchase a couple hundred sets. Right now its all about time. With that being said what are you using to mold them? What thickness of kydex? How are you cutting the kydex?
  6. Looking for a supplier for kydex clips such as the one Comp-tac uses on there hybrid holsters. Looking for bulk purchase and have been looking everywhere on the internet but no luck.
  7. Also, what about the Springfield XD sub- compact and compact 9mm /.40/.45? Are the blue guns interchangeable with these models?
  8. I started a topic on the H&K USP compact 9/40mm vs the .45 Ring's Blue gun molds dimensional size differences and Mark Garrity pretty much cleared that up with saying the USPc .45 is 3/8" longer than the USPc 9mm/40 and the dimensions were identical. Now with that being said. For all the holster makers out there. What about other guns that are offered in the 9mm and .40/357 sig configurations? Does one mold work with both the 9mm version of the gun and the .40/357 sig version? For instance the Sig Sauer P239 9mm and the P239 .40/.357 sig? I have another customer that wants a OWB pancake for his P239 9mm and I have a mold from Ring's that is marked .357 sig. I took a look over at the SIGforum.com and it looks like the slide on the P239 .40/357 sig slide is slightly taller. The dimensions on the Sig Sauer website show that they are identical. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone make a holster for a customer or themselves using a mold that worked in both the 9mm and .40/357 SIG P239? What about the P228 9mm and P229 9mm and .40/357 sig molds? Do they work with each other? What about the P226 9mm and .40/357 sig molds? Any experience with these?
  9. Mark I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the info it helps tremendously. By the way I love your holsters!
  10. Please do I am curious to know also. Thanks for the info! The gentleman that wants the USPc .45 is deployed to the Middle East right now and wont need it for a month or so. Like olliesrevenge said if anyone has used the USP compact 9mm / .40 as a mold for the .45. please chime in.
  11. Just talked to John Ring and they do not make the H&K USPc .45. They make the just the full size USP .45, the HK45 and the H&K USPc 9mm but no USP compact .45 Now I have a reason to purchase myself a USPc .45 lol
  12. I have a customer that wants a H&K USP compact .45 holster and for the life of me I can't find one. I can get a USP compact 9mm mold but the dimension look to be different. Anyone have any ideas.
  13. George that looks great. Nice stitches and the boning looks really nice. Is that W&C drum dyed leather or did you dye it yourself? I really like that brown.
  14. amuckart I made a 2 lb. batch of Code from your instructions. Came out perfect. Great instructions. It should last me a good couple years. Love the smell. I got my Rosin from US rodeo supply and my beeswax from ebeehoney.com
  15. I really like that holster. Nice edges, nice stitching, clean lines. Simple love it. You just need to resize that picture. I couldn't get half of the photo on my 24" screen. Its huge!
  16. I am using Angelus 600 cut 50/50 with h2o and I do really like the finish. I am also trying to keep my buying to one supplier. I live 45 minutes from Weaver Leather which is close enough for me to pick up all my items without getting dinged on shipping cost and hazmat fees when buying some items in gallons. Weaver doesn't carry the Angelus 600 but does carry the Fiebings Resolene. I think I might just pick up a quart of Resolene and cut it 50/50 with h2o and see how it compares to Angelus 600.
  17. Particle I see you have used Angelus 600 and Fiebings Resolene acrylic finishes. Can you tell us why you prefer the Angelus 600 over the Fiebings Resolene?
  18. Thanks for all the replies. I didn't realize not all 1911's were created equal. OK so if you were to buy 3 1911 Rings Blue guns right now which ones would you get?
  19. I want to purchase a couple 1911 blue guns. I see there are Colt and Springfield Blue guns. Can you use the Colt blue gun for a Springfield and vise versa? Which ones fit Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Ed Brown and all the other 1911 manufacturers the best? Does anyone have a list compiled? Also, I have a Blackhawk 1911 railed version I picked up from LA Police gear. I believe I read somewhere someone on the board said it fits the Wilson Combat railed 1911 well. Does it fit other railed 1911's well?
  20. I would be willing to purchase 16 of your Rings Blue Guns if you decide to split it up Springfield 1911 A-1 cocked& locked Springfield XD40 Tactical S&W M&P .40c S&W M&P .45 S&W 2" J frame Colt 1911 4 1/4" Colt 1911 5" - broken hammer spur Sig P220R Sig P228 Sig P229 Sig P229R Sig P239 Glock 21 Glock 26 Glock 30 Glock 36 e-mail sent Thanks Kevin N. **EDIT**Post fixed sorry about that.
