  1. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if Precision saddle trees is still in buisnes? I have tried calling and all it does is rings I have also sent emails with no response. Are they tricky to get ahold of or what?
  2. Hello. I actually had the same problem on monday I stepped on mine and broke it into two pieces. I couldnt wait a week to get a new one so I took a old sewing machine needle and cut half way through it at the bottom were you thread it at so it forms a hook. then I took it to the rouge wheel and smoothed all the rough edges so it doesnt cut the thread. It will work in a pinch. but you can buy one out of springfield leather.
  3. Hello I seen your post. I have been working now building Saddles for the last 2 and a half years. That is actually my profession I work 40 hour weeks building Saddles. If you would like some more information on me my email is cody1200@live.com. thank you.

  4. Once again thank. I gave it a try and I think it turned out OK. I think it I would have been struggling without you.
  5. Yes thank you a lot. I never thought of pulling the stitches tight afterwards. I think I will give it a whirl today.
  6. Yes that is pretty much it.
  7. Hello I have a question I was looking at this saddle and it has neither a welt or is laced on the swells. Although it is stitched but you can't see the thread. It looks like they just cut the Peice of leather and glued it down it. But yet you can't see the thread. I was wondering if anybody here has ever done this or has some insight to do it. If you did it inside out and then flipped it open I would think your stitches would be loose it looks like it was only sewn threw half the thickness if the leather. Thank you.

  11. Hello, I have looking at buying my first sewing machine. I have researching differant makes I have beeen looking at the cowboy 4500, the tecsew 5100, and the cobra class 4. To me all of these machines look to have the same exact cases and all of the specs look to pretty much be the same. Are they all manufactured or assembled in the same place then just getting differant paint and stickers or are they actually differant?
  12. Hello again, I'm sorry but we are not looking for a contractor more somebody in house. Honestly we are just looking forsomebody who is reliable and knows how to work. Somebody with basic knowledge of leather work who is willing to learn. It is a paid job. Thank you.
  13. Hello the saddle shop I am currently working at is looking for another saddle builder. It is in west Texas. Pm me for further information.
  14. 1) No, I wasn't getting paid vactation or any benefits. 2) The main saddle maker was not paid hourly while I was being paid hourly. Myself and two other workers were switched from the hourly pay with taxes being withdrawn to being paid by the piece with no taxes taken out. 3) He basically wrote out the prices for the different pieces I was making and posted them up while no one was there in the shop.
  15. All of what you have said helps alot. It makes sence I dont wanna go up to him and start saying a bunch of stuff that sounds like Im trying to strong arm him or something. Ive been Working there for a couple years know. I started off hourly then was put on piece work. When that happend I no longer had taxes taken out. I might just stick around longer and keep getting the experiance. thank you for your thoughts.
  16. Ok thank you for the information, i suppose i better have a talk.
  17. Hello. I have a few questions to ask you guys about taxes. First I work at a small ish saddle shop and my boss just gives me a 1099 misc. and takes no taxes out on me throughout the year. I have read on the IRS websitem and to me it sound like I am considered an employee. I have certain hours I have to work and he tells me how to do things. The second part of my question is that if I declared myself as a buisness as far as a EIN. im not sure on how to go about that maybe some info on that would help also. but if i did go ahead and do that would it hurt me in anyway other than costs of getting it. I have been thinking about it for awhile anyway just to buy from weaver.
