I'm guessing most people don't go straight to leather, as it is somewhat expensive. What material do you prefer to use to make a pattern with before transferring it to leather? I know that metal fabricators prefer thick stock cardboard and sewers use either plastic or paper. I've tried using thick brown paper, about double the thickness of traditional wrapping paper. What have you found that works best for you. If you could explain your reasoning behind it, I would appreciate it as well. Andrew

Just curious what you used for the seat padding material? Or is there no padding at all there? Can't tell on the thickness myself.

Could you guys add some more detailed pics of how your making the loops exactly.

I think that is the most uncomfortable looking stiching pony I've ever seen.

Do you have a recipe for the Vinegaroon? Does Vinegaroon only cover in black or can other colors be made? Does black just not cover well, or why does everyone have a problem with black?

Obviously Tandy touts their Eco-Flo, and honestly I don't really know what else is out there. What does everyone else use, what is the best stain? What do the commercial manufacturers use? What lasts the longest, also what is the cheapest bare bones stain?

A map is great just to see where people are located around you, but I'd be looking more for the discussion on local boards for local events, people wanting to see if there are people in their own area willing to teach of hold a class, clubs, etc. And es you do have a events section, but nobody on there actually posts in the title where the class is located, so you have to goto each post to find where it is located. Could be a whole lot easier in my mind if you had individual states listed, and individual forums for each state. Doing so you could also have your advertisers also post ads for the local section, try to get the local peoples to frequent their local shops, distributors, etc. Maybe I just foresee this board not being used to its full potential as of yet.

Why is there not an area to connect with people in your local area? Either state to state forums, or a couple states grouped together in a forum, the sub forum's with individual states listed below? Andrew

How are you guys storing your leather? Vertical, horizontal, rolled up, flat? Is one way better than another? Andrew

Can you post of list of what patterns are included if you have one easily available? Also what medium are the patterns on(paper, cardboard, posterboard, leather etc)? How much thread are you selling, what colors, etc? And realistically are you looking to sell all those items as one lot, or are you happy to piecemeal them all out? Could you post some pics of the dummy guns as well? Andrew

I'm just staring out, figured out that try this forum out, you guys seem to have lots of excellent information, as well as good posts. Got some tools from my father, he did some leatherworking in the 50's or 60's as part of boy scouts, so I have all the basic tools, a couple ruby blades as well, though the rubies have fallen off atleast one of them. I'm hoping to make some cases fro things, already got the al stohlman cases books, figure it looks easy, i'm betting its harder then it looks though. Maybe someone could point me towards a local supplier for leather, philadelphia or new jersey area? Andrew
