  1. I uploaded to my computer and then tried to attach them using the browse button. Kept telling me that it was too big of file. Don't know if the pictures are too big or if I'm trying to attach them the wrong way.
  2. Hi all, The long story short is I just purchased a gold mine of leather and tools from a gentleman that was a life long saddle maker. He retired "several years" back according to him after 50 years in the business. For whatever reason he decided to sell all his stuff at a very good price. I've been working my leather business a few years now and have a bunch of tools but have come across something I have not seen and I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with them so I don't ruin them. the name on the set is KonaKraft Tools from the Nocona Belt Co. This is a die set, full alphabet and a few other pieces for the ends of the words. It cuts out around the letters a s shown in the photos. I can find no info on this set online. I can find plenty of places selling Nocona belts but all I can find on KonaKraft is trademark gibberish. I did the two letters with a 5lb maul on a pound mat. It cut the letters decent but because of the deflection in the pound mat it shows the outline of the die. So, the big question. I have a 26 ton clicker press and the ole' Harbor freight 12 ton bottle jack press. Anyone know if these dies will stand up to being pressed into a poly type board like my clicker press has? I don't want to bug the guy I purchased them from because he really doesn't remember everything he had. It literally took two uUhaul trucks and Durango jam packed to the gills to get everything he had. All the tools, dies, etc were all packed neatly in plastic totes years ago. With running my business it is probably going to take me 10 years to unpack all this stuff... I've tried to post pic's but I guess I don't know how. Mark
  3. I would be interested in buying copies also. Just scan to regular paper and I'll retrace myself. You can yell at me here or mrhlk381@gmail.com. Thanks, Mark
  4. Thank you. I will make some phone calls today. I have reason to believe it may be some sort of scam. While researching "Landis 16's" for sale I found the same picture being used for someone selling it in Tyler TX as the one in Idaho. Guess it will either be there or not. It does look heavy but I do have a small diesel flat bed truck with a cherry picker on it. Sounds look it might be a good machine to have in my growing arsenal of leather sewing toys.
  5. I found this in the local classifieds for $2000. I'm wondering if I should go take a look at it. Seems like whatever leather product I do, it leads to wanting to do something heavier. I'm looking for something that will sew several layers of 10-12 ounce veg tanned.
  6. Can any one identify what model Landis stitcher this is from the photo and tell me a little about it and what it might be worth?
  7. Ok guys, I'm bringing this old thread back to life. I've exhausted my stock of needles that came with this machine when I bought it. I have taken Bob's advice and lowered my needlebar a 1/4". Now, can anyone tell me a good online source for 16x4 needles?
  8. Thanks Bob, Maybe I'll get brave on Wednesday and try this. Thanks again for your help. Happy Holidays!
  9. I take it the amount needed would be the difference in length between the two needles. I'm probably stating the obvious but will ask anyway in the true spirit of the only dumb question is the unasked one. Your help is much appreciated! Mark
  10. Rut Roh. This sounds like something I'm going to have to pay someone to do. I'm also very confused here. Raising or lowering the needle bar would solve the problem of the length of the needle obvioulsy, but the 135 needles I have for my other machine are physically to big in diameter to fit in the needle bar. So do I have to replace the whole needle bar? Just how hard are these 129's to get?
  11. I need to correct my last statement. The needle that fits the machine is slightly smaller than 135x8 needles that I have. I have no 135x5 needles and since I don't know what the numbers mean, I don't know which number is the shank size, if either is. The 135x8 is too large to fit into the needle holder even if the length was correct.
  12. Yes, the shank is slightly smaller. The 135x5, even if the length was correct, does not fit into the needle holder.
  13. Thanks for the help so far guys, I'm new to this stuff so be gentle. I guess now I need to learn how to properly measure a needle. All my other machines came with needles that I could see the size on the package when it came time to order. I included a pic of the needle in the machine currently. The smaller one next to it for comparison is a 135 x 8.
  14. Ok, can't find any of those except one person selling 2 boxes of a size I don't need in the UK on eBay. I guess I asked the wrong question. The question is, what readily available needle can be used in this machine.
  15. Hi Folks, I recently acquired this machine. It came with a couple of needles which are all the same size. They have a bigger size thread hole than what I normally need. The manual I found online says the needles I need for this machine are either 61 N 7 or 61 N 11. I am assuming this is an out dated number since I can not find any reference to it anywhere. Anyone help me out with the right needle part number. I'm looking to be in the 18-22 size range. Thanks! Mark
  16. Very good to know about the right hook and thread twist. I had read that somewhere before but had forgotten about it.
  17. Thanks all for the great help. Got her all fixed up. Get those two screws out was a bugger for sure. I finally gave them a shot of W-D40 and let it sit for an hour. Then with a set of vise grips on my jewelers screwdriver I was finally able to crack them loose. Looked like the problem was about 2 years worth of dust bunnies and a bunch of older thread all up under the bobbin case. Looked so bad I figured I better take the other one out and clean up there too. The other side was clean, guess someone was running it just as a single needle for a lomg time. Is there any reason to make those screws that tight again? I just snugged them pretty good. They were so tight when I took them out I was probably a nose hair away from stripping the heads. Should the mess I found under there scare me as far as what kind of maintenance was done on this machine? Anything special I should check or watch for? I've been oiling regularly and it seemed to have oil most places I could see so I'm assuming who ever used it last at least oiled it. Anyway, thanks again all! Mark
  18. Thanks so much Eric, I was eye balling those two screws but like I said, I was a scared to just start taking stuff apart. When you say "rock the wheel back and forth", I don't think I'm going to be able to do that. The thread up under there has it all jammed up where nothing will turn either under power or with helping by hand, however I didn't try for more than a second. Didn't want to hurt anything. I'll get those screws out in the morning and see what I can do. Hopefully that will loosen things up enough to get the thread out. Thanks again, Mark
  19. Hi all, I'm going to do the classic introduce myself with a problem. Sorry for the poor form. I'm the usual long term lurker. I've been gleening info from all of you for quite sometime and thank you for that. I recently picked up a Singer 112W116 for $80. Its a beast! Been working with it for a couple of weeks now. Seller really didn't know anything about it, which is slightly less then me....I knew it was worth more than $80...at least I'm pretty sure it is. I put a Sewpro servo motor on it, removed one needle, found a manual online, threaded her up and have been sewing like a champ with her. I'm very impressed with it, but then again, up to now I've had nothing that would sew medium weight leathers. Today I hit my first snag. Somehow I messed up and got the thread knotted up under the bobbin case. Removed the bobbin but I have no idea how to remove the case, or carrier...not even sure what the correct term is. The manual I have shows nothing for this and my internet searches are coming up blank. I really don't want to start disassembling stuff without knowing what I'm doing. I don't want to make things worse by doing something that will gubber up the timing. Anyone familiar with this machine that can guide me through this? Thanks in advance, Mark
