Hello everyone, I hope that you are all well and staying safe during this pandemic. I wasn't able to find a solid answer to a question I've been trying to research. Where did the Sheridan style of leather tooling come from? The floral design is very similar to the "okir" designs from Southern Asia. If you know awesome! If not perhaps you know of some literature that covers it? I've tried searching the internet but much of it discusses technique but not history. Thanks! Teo

Hey all! These are a couple wallets I made recently.. I've been pretty reluctant to sell wallets but I'm growing to enjoy it as I figure out how to work with the thinner leather! I made the two-tone wallet for my dad for Father's Day, and the natural colored one was an order from a friend in California. Both are 4-5 oz HO, with 2-3 oz HO interiors. I'd be glad to hear any advice and critiques! -Morgan Here's the other wallet:

Hey all! Here's a couple tooled belts I did. I used Thoroughbred's golden skirting and split it. Filled in the background with a paintbrush using fiebings usmc black dye. Lined them with 3-4 oz veg tan. The one with the brand I made for a friend in exchange for a roping steer so I thought that was a pretty good trade! I'm still new to tooling belts so if have any advice on the floral design I'd love to hear it. Comments/critique more than welcome.

Hello all! Here is a leather tote bag I finished a while ago. The handles are an 8 strand round braid and the first thing I've braided. The leather is 8oz veg-tan with soft pigskin lining on the inside. The sheridan pattern is my own work. This is also my first time using a bar grounder in my carving. Let me know what you think! Critique welcome. -Ryan

Hello all! Here is a roper wallet (or long wallet) that I just finished for myself. Btw, my nickname is Nate in case you're confused. I needed to make myself a wallet so I could have some of my work with me when meeting potential customers. Also, my Cabela's wallet was falling apart. It is lined with Tandy's super soft pigskin. When I showed it to my dad, he said I should have stamped "A fool and his money are soon parted" on the inside flap... (I think I should have done that too considering how often I go to Tandy... ) Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Thanks for looking! -Ryan

Hello, again! Here is the gun belt to the holster I posted earlier. A friend commissioned me to make it for his 45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk. He's a big fan of tie-down roping and asked me to incorporate some roping scenes. Let me know what you think and please ask if you have any questions. -Ryan

I never really considered how much work goes into certain projects. Sheridan and other forms of floral carving seem to be the most common when it comes to leather craftsmanship. We see it everywhere but I never understood how much work really goes into it. This is my first attempt and I'm still not done with this one piece but it is the back of a purse I am doing for my mother as a present.

Hello all! My dad asked me to make him a pair of chaps. The deal was that he'd buy the materials and I'd do the work. Sorry, but that was a special deal for dad only. This took me about 40 hours to do. All of the pattern/design is my own work. Let me know what you think! I will post some pics of my dad wearing them soon. Thanks for looking! -Ryan

Finally finished this piece. I am both happy, and un-happy with out it turned out. there are a few things I would have done differently. but over all I like it, and so does the new owner. -
Howdy folks! Just finished my second holster for a client. I still have to make the gun belt and fully tool it.... but I don't want to think about that right now. Tooling pattern is my own and the shape of the holster was copied off the original holster. There's still plenty of room for improvement but you know... I'll get there eventually. Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Cool gun belt coming soon.... -Ryan

Howdy guys and gals. One of my friends asked me to make this journal for his Christmas gift to his girlfriend. The leather is 8/9 oz. European single bend from Tandy. Let me know what you think. Critique and comments are always welcome. (Note the screwdriver petal lifter in the second pic. I got the idea from YinTx in his post.)

Hello, all! I am trying to draw my own patterns so my carving will custom fit on any project. Also, I want to learn how to draw my own patterns in order to be completely original. Here is my first attempt at drawing Sheridan free hand. I made the pattern up off the top of my head. Please feel free to critique.
