Like new Barry King 48oz mallet! There are a few scuffs on the brass nut, otherwise very little use to the nylon head. Carefully-crafted mallet is a true work of art. Durable nylon head stands up to heavy-duty use. Contoured handle offers extra cushioning and is comfortable in the hand.

Hi, I recently bought a Barry King swivel knife and want to make sure that I keep the blade in the right condition. I'm new to the craft and I don't trust myself to manually hold a consistent angle on a stone. Previous posts I've seen recommend a Chuck Smith Big Red jig. Though, I'm having trouble finding a place selling these online. Does anyone know a good source for these? Or, is there an alternative jig that would work?

Hi everyone! Awhile back I purchased a Barry King small awl handle and awl blade. The awl handle is the small sized collet style with the flat side. The blade is the size 1 blade. The issue I'm having is the blade slips in the collet regardless of how tight I get the hex nut. I'm using the smaller end of the collet and the blade is super tight (difficult to insert by hand) but slips when I try to use it. I'm familiar with collets (Dremel tools, lathes, mills, pin vices, exacto knives etc.) what am I doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I finally broke down and got myself a high quality tool, a Barry King Edger. The problem with nice tools is that I really want to keep it protected when not in use. This one in particular likes to roll well, so I need something I can stash it in right away when I am done using it. I am guessing the end product will be similar to a sheath, maybe with a clamshell like opening so I can snap it shut for storage. I have not been able to find any threads on the topic, so I just wanted to ask and see if anyone had any samples or solutions they like for protecting a single tool like an edger. Thank you, Andy

Hello all, After a few simple no-sew projects, I've decided I should learn to stitch. I've watched a couple of videos, have the Stohlman book on order, and now it's time to buy an awl. I've read enough to know I should avoid Tandy and the other inexpensive version, so I'm looking at the Barry King hafts and blades (available from the same source). Good choice for a first tool, or should I pick something else? Which one? I have medium sized hands (7.5" tip to wrist). My guess is the small haft with the flat side, but if someone has a better idea, I'm all ears! Blade: Are the Barry King blades good for a beginner, or should I bite the shipping bullet and make a second order from Bob Douglas? Blade size? I'm working with small-ish projects (journal cover or smaller) and using ~5oz leather , 2-3 layers. Also, will one small blade cover most small to medium projects, or will I need more than one type? Thanks!

I am from overseas and will be in Arizona for the summer and was hoping to stock up on quality tools for leather carving and tooling. I was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere in Arizona where I might be able to buy tools from someone who is really skilled in tooling. I brought some of my work with me hoping to have a professional see where I can improve and what tools I should buy to help improve my work. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

So I've never used a beveler or worked with leather in any way. I watched a Tandy tutorial that calls for Craftool B202 L&R bevelers. I looked them up and they appear to have a checkered pattern. I am confused about the L&R... does the left and right refer to the direction of the lines in the impression? or what? I haven't seen any other bevelers which are L&R? Additionally, is there an equivalent that I could buy that would do the same thing, but with just one tool? I'm thinking of just buying a few tools from Barry King, and bypassing Craftool stuff. I haven't bought ANY bevelers, so I was just going to start with one or so and go from there.

Anyone used a Barry King grooved edger? Any thoughts on it? I'm considering purchasing a set, but I would love some feedback before I do. And pro or cons vs their common edger? My primary goal is a nice round edge on the leather, and a tool that is easy to sharpen.

I want to order a Barry King swivel knife, but I don't know which one to get. There are different barrel sizes, different blade sizes and angled versus straight blade. Too many options... help! I have medium sized hands for a woman. I have never used a swivel knife, but I am pretty dexterous. (Hand-spinner and weaver for over 20 years.) I plan to work on mostly small to medium sized leather projects (belts, wallets, small cases.) (I don't know what makes the difference for making the choice, so I'm trying to give whatever info that may be pertinent.) Thanks!

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on which Barry King tools would make a nice starting set for Sheridan tooling. On his website the recommended size lists more than I can comfortably afford at the moment. I've already ordered a BK 16 Oz Round Maul and a BK 1/2 x 3/8 straight blade swivel knife, as well as a few other tools elsewhere. So now it looks like I should focus on (please correct me if I'm wrong) a beveler, pear shader, camouflage, veiner, seeder, and a background tool. Which sizes would be ideal?

I just found this leather worker.net website. I don't use the computer much. I have several Barry King, Ron's Tool Company, and many other hand tools and machines for sale. All tools are in like new condition. Some have never been used and some have built one saddle and a few wallets and belts. I bought all these tools new. Shortly after purchase I got hurt and didn't use them anymore. I am unable to pursue this avenue so I need to liquidate these things. Feel free to email me with any questions (harleykdh@yahoo.com).

So, I just ordered a variety of stamps from Barry King and the guy I was talking to was extremely knowledgable and very helpful. I got a bunch of the things I need and while we were closing out the transaction I asked who I was speaking with. Turns out it was Barry himself! I don't know why I expected it to be someone else, but I was pleasantly surprised and the service was outstanding! Barry listened to what I was trying to do, and was able to guide me to the tools I need and he was able to explain WHY i need them in order of importance, AND work with my budget. I highly recommend you give him a call if you want to purchase high quality tools and deal with a first rate company! Mike .
