  4. As I see, Bring the eye lid to a point toward the beak, under cut just a bit. Make a semblance of the eye, practice on some scrap eyes only. Have fun
  5. Looks good Matt Practice on all your scrap leather using the swivel knife, you will get the feel for the depth of cut Enjoy the ride

Best place I can think of to ask this question, so here it goes The ways to protect your gun or knife from the snap metal post back touching-rubbing possibly scratching the gun or knife would be?? Sew in a liner after snap has been set, OR those small flat plastic inserts ( Which, I don't know where to find?? please help) Are there any other ways that you have found help the keep the snap off the gun or knife blade? or ideas to prevent it from happening. Thanks
  7. Wondering what you all do to get Satin Finishes. High Gloss & Gloss seem to be very easy to get. I've used leather balm, bit waxy which is cool sometimes. Is there a combo of two products to use? wondering is there any thing else Im missing?? thanks

  10. Use a lot of practice pieces, Make a curve cuts, practice with your veiners angles and depth, Looks like your well on your way
  11. As many factors would come into play application, drying time I conceder it all a learning experience , some work and some dont work that well Try the same thing on practice piece, try spray bottle Experience is the Word I give my Mistakes.
  12. Going to try to carve a bigger Sheridan piece about 14x16in I know I can not carve it all in one day. So my question is how do you all keep that piece in a cased state? I was thinking just plastic bag and moisten the flesh side only on the next day to resume carving? Just wondering if that the right way to go on a bigger 2-3 day carve?

  14. Back to swivel knife problems and tips? Caseing does that mean dryer leather, not so wet to allow the knife to cut without drag??

Well I thought this is the best place to ask Looking for the combination of colors to get a Black Cherry Color on leather, I dont know what else call the color Using Eco Flo at the moment Its working so so mostly shades of browns, other stuff make me a little dizzy Has anybody had success with this color how does it work with tooling?   17. HelloI found this site and knew I had to pull up a chair. Lots going on here. I like the Carving, learn some in the 8th grade getting back into it, as it was a while back. I look forward to learning and having fun beating on the hide. Thank you Much
