  1. I am trying to get my Singer 111W155 back up to good working order.

It has been in storage for the last 38 years, put away well oiled and kept in the original packaging and box. I pulled it back out this year in order to assist my wife in her sign and banner business.

I have used this site as the main source of information regarding the upkeep of this beast.

For some reason the stitch length indicator is off by a mile. I have tried to loosen the set screw and realign the indicator dial, but it is not moving and I would rather not try to force it.

The manual suggests that by loosening the dial and pressing the adjustment button it should turn to the stitch count. BUT the dial does not release. I have the stitch count at 8 per inch but the dial reads 20 per inch.

    Any suggestions for this adjustment?
