  1. Hi Gang, been awhile since my last post. The great info here has kept me going a long time. Anyway, searched for answers to no avail. What is the recommended height for the lifting eccentric for various materials? I have some light weight upholstery fabric by sunbrella that I get fabric bunching/puckering. I have the right needle & thread, very light foot tension. Thread tension on very light side to relieve pressure. I have it alot better since two days ago, but still has a slight pucker. Since I bought the 211g almost 10 months ago I never fooled with this adjustment. Mine has a push button on top like the stitch length button on the base. I can move it freely on the height, but trying to figure the proper height for various fabrics. Leather - sunbrella canvas- marine vinyl. Thanks Joey
  2. Thx Guys. Eric, glad I waited till morning and read your reply. I did indeed adjust the needle bar height to the correct level. Off by 1/32. Stitching good again. Glad I did not start messing with the gears. Was in the middle of a large canvas/leather job. Saved again by the Leatherworker Super-heros. Joey
  3. Ok thx Wiz. I will try that Mon am. Constabulary, I need to look over my manual for needle bar adjustment. I dont recall seeing anything on that. thx again Joey
  4. Wiz, the screws on #5 are easily moved. Moving that gear still rotates #4 which still moves needle bar. Any ideas on getting #4 loose? Is this the right procedure for timing the hook point to the needle? I dont want to really throw it off. I am in the middle of a huge job right now. I changed stitch length and it seems to be ok right now. But it sure seems not quite right. Thx Joey
  5. Hi Gang, Been a little while, machine has been doing great all this time. Until today. Started to skip stitchs, upon inspection it looks like the timing is off a little. Got the manual out, and decided that I need to advance a little. When I loosen the set screws on (4) then try to tap gear left or right as per the manual, it does not seem to work right. I am guessing that the gear should spin on the shaft, it seems to move the shaft which in turn moves the needle bar. So, is it stuck? I nver have tried this procedure before. Only moving the whole hook/bobbin left or right to get it set to the right needle distance. Thx Here is a schematic.

  7. Got 3 large hides from a friend. They have no idea. Seems like buckskin. Has a milled appearance. Any ideas. Heres a pic.
  8. Thx for input. Yes, it is tanned. Seems to be deerskin. Kinda like milled cow leather. ITs been airing out for 3-4 days now. Still smells. Really noticeable. Any ideas? Can leather be put thru a wash cycle? Never crossed my mind before until this. Would like to save it. HAve 3 pieces at about 20 sq yds apiece. Joey
  9. Hey gang, Got some large half hides of deerskin I believe from friends that came back from Colorado. Its pretty nice stuff, but it has this strange smell. Smells almost like mildew. But not really. They insist that it did not get wet and really has not been stored wrong. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? I do not have tanning experience so I can not tell if thats the problem. Joey
  10. here ya go http://www.manualsli...er-211g155.html I use a 211g165 its all the same So you need to search for 211g or just 211 singers. They are the same
  11. Hi guys, Is a piping foor made for this machine? Has anyone tried to do this with a Singer 211? Thx Joey
  12. Gotta step up and back Springfield. Heather, the backroom leather manager has a special bin for me. When something comes in that she thinks I will like, she saves it for me. Sends me pics and goes out of her way. Complete customer service appreciation to the highest. Their exotics have also been fine. For the best of the best. http://www.thetanneryrow.com/collections/leather This is Horween's answer for the small operator. They sell what they call seconds. Which is by far some of the greatest leather I have worked with. Their normal shell leather is still too spendy for me.
  13. Wiz, I reread the manual on adjusting the shuttle to the right. I had plenty of play. Lo and Behold its working perfect. I am slowly putting the pieces of the Industrial puzzle together. Thx again for enlightening me. Joey
  14. Eric, after rereading. I have to ask about the latch opener. I think I know what you are talking about but want to make sure. Is that the bobbin case opener? What is the exact setting for those. I have just read my manual over that issue. Still trying to see what it does exactly. thx joe
  15. Hi gang, Just got some 135x16 leather needles in. Chisel point. Needles made by Organ. Been only using 135x17 since I got the machine. Loaded them up to test stitch with 138 & 207 thread. Man it sure is tight underneath watching the hook go around. Both of them will seem like they are almost pinned by the needle guard when it comes around. For sure the 24. It stitches ok with no skips or stops. The 207 also seems tight when it comes around the hook and btw the case and feed dog plate. It will kinda snag at that point. But the pressure will pull it thru. No fraying. 207 on the bobbin Is 207 thread too big for this machine? Again, the 207 stitches fine with it top and bobbin. 138 top and bobbin is just fine. Are Schmetz needles made a little different than Organ? So maybe they dont get pinned? ANy light would be appreciated. Joey
  16. Does Bob or anyone know if the OP got the problem fixed? Have not heard from him for a good while. Must be fixed I am guessing.
  17. In a nutshell Bob. Why is that? As you know helping me and sending me some parts. I got the whole package at a screaming deal and its seems to be barely used, being that it was made so long ago. Mine is the 211g REally what to make this work for me. thx
  18. Fast ? please. How inter-changeable are the 211 and 111 machine parts? Any - None. Thx
  19. Anthony, congrats. Very nice work. Here is a school in the USA that looks very interesting. Might have heard of it. ANyway here is the link. http://www.amblardleatheratelier.com/index.html Good luck PS I miss Portland Joey
  20. Thx for the reply guys. In no way was I implying it to be inferior or not up to the job. Just curious about why I saw alot of them.
  21. Only place I knew where to post. So as far as machines go. Read alot, Researched alot. Wanted alot of different ones that I can not afford. Posted alot of questions on my Singer211g which ya'all helped me with. Why is there so many of these for sale? looks capable looks tough looks like good support. Something inherently wrong with these or what? Joe
