In a nutshell Bob. Why is that? As you know helping me and sending me some parts. I got the whole package at a screaming deal and its seems to be barely used, being that it was made so long ago. Mine is the 211g REally what to make this work for me. thx -

Why Is There So Many Boss's For Sale?
joeyrsmith replied to joeyrsmith's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thx for the reply guys. In no way was I implying it to be inferior or not up to the job. Just curious about why I saw alot of them. -
Only place I knew where to post. So as far as machines go. Read alot, Researched alot. Wanted alot of different ones that I can not afford. Posted alot of questions on my Singer211g which ya'all helped me with. Why is there so many of these for sale? looks capable looks tough looks like good support. Something inherently wrong with these or what? Joe

Ryan, let me tell you how. When you reply to the topic in the reply box at the bottom, two lines of icons appear. At the second row 9 from the left is a link icon. Two ways. You can type a word like "link here" highlight it with your mouse and then click on the link icon. It will bring a box up where you can type or paste the web site/link you want. Then the word/words become a link in blue to the spot. Or just click the icon link type the web address in and the link will appear where you have your blinking text cursor. Hope that helps Joey

Hi gang, After cleaning out the hook/bobbin case of my singer 211g I discovered that it was missing 1 screw of two for the hook needle guard. Part number 201409 from the 240559 hook needle guard. It was the one on the end. They are pan head based. I hand cranked it over a few times and noticed it was deflecting the needle by a micro-millimeter. The screw that was missing was on the outside. Last hole I guess you would say. I took the guard off and cleaned real good and moved the remaining screw to the missing hole, thinking it would keep it in place better. Now the inside hole is minus a screw. SO after all of that, I am asking if someone has one of those laying around that I can buy. All of the hardware places have nothing. Internet searches for parts come up nada. MAchine is working fine, but in the back of my mind I am worrying that something will happen. Thx Joe

Built Me A Speed Reducer Consew 225
joeyrsmith replied to jkbuzbee's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Ok guys, help me out here a little. I see pcox has what looks like the original wheel with the stitch markings on it. My 211g has only one hub/wheel with stitch marks and belt channel. So my whole wheel would have to come off, ??? on how to regulate my stitch length has me a little baffled. Ideas on that would be great. Thx Joe Think I kinda figured it out. As long as there is something attached to the drive shaft, I can lock the hook shaft below with deck button and operate as usual.- 12 replies

Cool, pcox, my man---who has helped me like a Pope helping a sinner!!! I know, I know some Popes are better than other Popes! I mean a great Pope helping a bad sinner. Are you using a small pulley on the motor like I have or something bigger? I got the machine with a 3.5in pulley. Thx Joey- 12 replies

Bob, pcox Ya'all saved my but again. After the soaking it loosened it up and as per your "backward" motion it is now in the 7.5 per in. HECK yeah. In biz now. Thx guys By the way, anyone know the minimum stitch per in?
-
Bob, I was going by manual which states what you are saying but, you say turn it away from myself. I was turning to myself as per the manual. Actually it just says to turn to desired length. Is this the big problem I have had. Not turning away from myself? Thx Joe
-
Hey gang, I have saturated the stitch adj wheel for several days now. I still can not get the stitch length to change from 3.5 per in. I see where the deck button drops into the wheel and stops the hook from spinning. I can rotate hand wheel, but I do not see whats really supposed to happen underneath. It is not disengaging the clutch as much, but I can not get it to change. this image is from Eric and represents mine exactly. Any ideas Thx Joe

Presser Foot Pressure? Tricks And Tips

Newbie On The Lookout For A Sewing Machine For Bags
joeyrsmith replied to aleejelly's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Look for a walking foot machine. They will give you more opportunities. Light to heavy. The 8700 looks like it can easily handle what you want. Reverse is useful. Start picking out machines and search here in the main forum to start learning. Or a normal sewing mssg board, since you are dealing with fabric. Most of this forum is concerned with leather from light to very heavy weight. But has a tremendous amount of knowledge here. I am still learning from here. -
Wizcraft, you say that you will lose the top speed. Since I am so new to these types of sewing machines its hard for me to see that I will be sewing at the speed it had when I 1st got it. I can see for like upholstery or canvas shops. I can barely handle the slower machine. I know with time all of us newbies will be seasoned and want the fast speed someday. I do want the servo motor from CowboyBob pretty soon though. Joey

HI there. I had the same problem 2 days ago. New machine (singer 211g) to me and it had a 90mm pulley 3.5 in. I found a 40mm 1.75in pully at the hardware store for 6bucks. Slowed my machine down by half. Very easy, just buy a belt that is shorter also. Total cost 17bucks

Presser Foot Pressure? Tricks And Tips
joeyrsmith replied to joeyrsmith's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Very well. Thx So far to practice I am using a 135-17 size 18 with upholstery thread. So I think its not to big. Probably to small with the leather I am testing. OIl-tanned 3-4oz Veg tanned 3-4 and a little bigger. I have ordered 69 thread and 92. -
COOL Thx Joey
