  1. Hi All, i am wanting to start tooling and was looking for various size tooling patterns. Celtic,gothic,fantasy,mystical,skulls of different sizes. Just looking for things a little different than sheridan and flowers.

  4. I bought some punches round and oblong from Tandy Leather and when they arrived they are blunt and don't cut well. Instead of returning them i would like to know how to sharpen them . I thought maybe a sanding stick of some kind along the bevel to resharpen the cutting edge. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

May i suggest you contact your local wood turning club or supplier of wood working supplier to see what is available or use, i wood turn as a hobby and when i started out i got loads of advice and was shown how and where to start. Someone in the club maybe able to help design a brace for your kind of turning you wish to do.
  6. Just wondering is there some way to guage how much thread you need to cut when hand sewing something so not to waste too much. i realize this probably has been covered before. Thanks Nigel
  7. Tandy leather has a cheap archery pack download or you can look on you tube they have lots of quiver making movies. Hope this helps

  12. Hi All Just a quick question on a buckle i bought by accident, how do i use a strap buckle with a locking tongue. Instead of sending them back i thought i would learn how to use them. Secondly my son is a guns and roses fan and wants me to make his a Slash top hat but am having trouble finding the conchos,can any one help?\ Thanks Nigel
  13. Thanks for all the advice, from your comments i now realise i had not cased the leather enough and this caused everything else to go pear shaped. This was my first wallet i tooled and it turned ok. The receiver was happy with the outcome however i did learn a lot from this and realise i need to be more careful with every step along the way as lack of thought and preparation just makes live harder to reach the intended outcome. Thanks again.
  14. Hi All, still working through my starter kit i am have a problem with my camo tool bending alot. Am i hitting it too hard? Secondly i have bought a couple of Tandy 3d stamps and am having trouble get the full impression, i only have a poly mallet. I am using some of the tandy leather scrap they sell to practice and trial on is this too thin for a 3d stamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hi this my very first post here so hello all, i got a tandy deluxe leather craft kit for xmas and have been looking around all over the web for info. I watched a youtube movie and Richard Black uses hot neats foot oil on his project.Pergatory iron works also has a movie on you tube using a similar recipe and uses it for water proofing lots of things including leather in his black smith shop. not sure if this helps but i found it interesting
