Solofalcon posted a gallery image in Gallery- Our Leatherwork
From the album: Magic The Gathering Notebook Cover
Includes pen holder and business card holders on each side. I used the asphalt from my driveway to get that textured background. -

I've been using this for the last 6 or 7 years and the snaps are holding up just fine. I used the same pattern from the How to Make Leather Cases by Al and Ann Stohlman. I think it was volume one.

J3 Cub Plane Wallet

It is made with the veg tan cowhide piece that came with the Maverick wallet kit from Tandy, I just used a textured backgrounder to get that look. -
I Made My Own Gym Bag
Solofalcon replied to Solofalcon's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thanks for the comments. I used 7-8 oz. veg tan leather for the main pieces and 4-5 oz. for the gusset, and yes there are three layers in the bottom portion of the bag. I used the 'On-Board Flight Bag' instructions on page 12 in Volume Three of 'The Art of Making Leather Cases' by Al & Ann Stohlman as a guideline for construction methods, and just adjusted the dimensions of everything to suit my needs. The most challenging thing for me was the zipper. This was my first time(and only attempt so far) trying to incorporate a zipper on a project and it was very rough to operate at first. It slides much smoother now that it has had a chance to break in. I used a Chestnut Tan antique stain for the overall color, and coated the inside well with Neat-Lac to account sweat, and water. If I were to do it again, I would probably choose a medium or dark brown for the color. -
Leather Portfolio (No Zipper)
Solofalcon replied to Solofalcon's topic in Books, Journals and Photo Albums
Yes I used a piece of stiffener material for each side of the project. -
Sorry for the flood of entries everyone. I am new to this website as of today. I have been tooling leather for 12 years now, and I have even more projects to post, but this is the last one I will post today. I thank everyone for the kind replies.
