Agree with Maverick. I picked up some Horween B sides and they're great. Erin(?) is nice to deal with and pretty prompt with emails.

I think the best way forward is to just call them instead of doing a website order.

I left a note on their Facebook wall yesterday saying I was disappointed. They called me this morning and said that my order is finally shipping, took 3 weeks. I asked why and they said they were out of stock.. again, when I ordered it said it was in stock too. I really, really love their crazy horse and I was hoping I could replace another supplier, but sadly I don't think I can if it takes a month and a half to get orders.

Has anyone else ordered from Zack White this year? I ordered once back in January, took 2 weeks to process my order. I'm used to all my other suppliers shipping within a few days, so I forgot about Zack White for a while. Decided to give them a second chance and it has already been 3 weeks and no order update. Anyone else experience this exceptional customer service?

Thanks for responding John. Looking forward to placing my first order!

I've submitted orders via Tannery Row and never get a response. Has anyone ever made an order through this site?

Texas Custom are amazing! I've done 2 orders with them and they've been great!

I can vouch for Don at Longview (and now Caledon). Great customer service and very knowledgeable. Very good prices too. Tandy is okay in a pinch. I had a terrible experience with Lonsdale leather on Vancouver. Do not recommend them, which is unfortunate since they are so close to me.

Tandy is great for beginners learning. Not everyone will want to invest money for an sk-3 swivel knife or set of Osbourne punches. I did quite well professionally using Tandy Tools for a while, heck even the cheap steel tools from China work well if you're on a budget. Do what you can with what you have and enjoy the learning process. When you get better, look at tools that can make your craft easier. It makes you really appreciate the companies who create exceptional tools.

I have designed my own in illustrator and use Ponoko to laser cut the designs and mail them to me. Awesome service - and cheap.

I've order tools and chisels from here. Shipment was fast and it was a great price compared to another site I used to use out of japan. Would buy again from here.

Hi - also from Victoria here. Caledon sent me a letter saying they're going out of business. So that's one less source in Canada sadly. Longview is a Weaver reseller, their product codes are identical. Sadly I tried emailing Longview and they never replied, so I'm going to try my luck with Weaver. I've purchased from Springfield and they're great for small lots. My experience with cross border is to try and get it sent USPS, brokerage will be about $60 for $500 worth of product. Not too bad if it's good quality. Oh and stay the hell away from the local Tandy reseller. When I first started I had some questions about sealing dye and they had no idea what resolene was..

I may have answered my own question: anodized aluminum doesn't rust, so I guess the phone is safe

I'm currently using Tandy Oil Tan sides to make iPhone cases, but I worry that these are actually chrome tanned and could corrode the aluminum body of the phone. Is this true? I was going to switch suppliers and go with Chrome Oil Tan sides.. is this a bad idea? Should I stick with the Tandy junk for now? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Awesome! I checked out some of the 15-91s on ebay and they look almost identical. I'm guessing this was the model that was "cloned" by the Japanese in the late 40's and 50's. Can't wait to give it a go

Thanks Karina - I at least have a starting point now for researching this machine. I can't seem to turn up anything under "Humen" so I'll try looking at "Singer Class 15 Clones"

My grandma gave me this sewing machine today, she said my grandpa would use it to sew canvas. Anyone ever see one of these? Would it be okay for 4-5oz leather? It's pretty old, but still seems to work! Appears to have been manufactured in Edmonton or Ontario.

Wow! Thanks for all the awesome replies. I swear, this community is so unlike any other forum I've ever been on. DoubleC - We bought used Singer home sewing machine. Picked up some nylon thread, leather needles and a plastic foot. Crossing my fingers I don't know the model off hand as I'm just away from home at the moment. I'm going to try my luck with some 3-4oz veg-tan. LNLeather - thanks for the tips on searching the forums. I'll try that again next time I'm stumped ^^ -
Forgive me if this has been covered, I did a forum search and can't seem to easily find any topics. I'm looking at this wallet: http://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/78744616/wallet-leather-wallet-mens-wallet-box?ref=shop_home_feat And I'm curious to know if any of you can speculate what type of leather this is? I'd like to try to reproduce a wallet of my own and all I've ever used is 3-4oz veg-tan leather. I want to try using a "cheaper" leather and machine-sewing my product. What would the community suggest?

Wow! Great information guys, I think I'll try out the Radioscreen mesh: http://www.lessemf.com/fabric.html I'll let you know how I get on

Hey Folks, I have a customer asking if I can offer RFID blocking on my wallets. He says that I can use sandwich foil? Has anyone else ever done such a thing? Would you be able to offer some advice?
-
Thanks for the reply. Btw, I wanted to thank you while I had the opportunity for your YouTube videos on saddle-stitching. They were super helpful while I was getting started. Cheers!

I searched for a bit on the forums and haven't really found an answer to this. I'm looking at wallets like these: http://www.etsy.com/...=leather wallet and these: http://www.etsy.com/listing/78744616/wallet-leather-wallet-men-wallet-box?ref=shop_home_feat Any idea? Iron-on transfer? Textile printer?
