I am making my first attempt at a leather backpack and I am wondering how do I go about stitching the corners where the 3 pieces of leather meet. How do I bring the 3 pieces together like on the backpack below? I am trying to replicate that corner.

My question is what size chicago screw post size should I use on 9-10 oz leather for attaching belt buckles. So basically 2 pieces of 9-10oz together, I was thinking 1/4" post but want to be sure. Thanks and God Bless.

Hello everyone, I have been handstitching my leather which is 10oz to 120z(heaviest i would use) for some time now and business is picking up. I am really considering a machine that would sew 10-12oz leather, i have $1500 to spend cash or I could finance and pay up to $75 a month. I was considering the cowboy machines. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!!!!

Safety first Amen to that.the place where i will be doing production has 3 large windows that open. i will be putting a high volume fan in, attatched to a filter going outside.

Hello everyone i am starting a business and will be dying large amounts of leather. I used to use a airbrush but for the volume i am going to be doing an airbrush would take way to long. I only want to buy once and dont want any cheap stuff. budget is around 150. I use feibings oil dyes and i dilute it. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Also i use resolene as a finish and would be spraying that in a seperate gun. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.

Did it wipe off the blue to have purple left behind? Well somewhat, but it mainly wiped almost all the blue off to the point where I could see the veg tan. When buffing between coats should I be using something to buff with? Like neatsfoot or something. Also if I'm doing 5 coats and letting dry for 24hrs+ then buffing in between, were talking a 5+ day project any way to cut that time down? Thanks for all the input!!

So I made my first dog collar today I used feibings pro oil dye. My process was: I applied neatsfoot oil to leather let it dry. Then I airbrushed with 5 coats of feibings pro oil dye in royal blue. I let the dye dry, then I went to apply the feibings atom wax and it literally wiped the dye right off the collar. I was beside myself when this happened. I then wiped the collar with a white clean cloth and tried to re dye but the project got all messed up. Why did the atom wax wipe the dye right off the leather? I ordered from Springfield leather and they told me to use the atom wax after I dye. Please help.

I have a half hide and would like to cut straps out of it. What is the best way to square the leather to get uniform straps with strap cutter?

Hello, I am going to be making some custom dog collars and was wondering what the most animal friendly dye was? I would like to use the Fiebings pro dye but am not sure if it is safe for dogs. I want the best results possible but not at the expense of the dogs health. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also would like to ad I am going to be applying dye with an air brush don't know if that matters. Anyhow thanks and God Bless!!

Hello all I am so glad to be here. I have a question. I am new to leatherwork and am going to start making Hand Stitched Dog Collars. My question is: What is the best leather to use so I can tool, dye, and accessories and where would you reccomend getting it. I would like to have it already cut into strips at various widths. Also what weight lambskin liner would you reccomend getting. Going to be using 2 D rings opposite each other. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
