Thanks for the information.

My belt broke and wondering if anyone has a link to or information on how I can replace the belt on this machine. I purchased the belt just need info on how to take it apart. Any advice is greatly appreciated. BTW I am not actually doing this my mechanically inclined husband will be but thought I would try to gather some information if possible to start with. So I looking to purchase another machine that had reverse and could sew leather and ended up purchasing 14 sewing machines last week. I only meant to buy 2 or 3 but messed up on the online bidding as it was my first time and they had grouped the lots. Anyhow I picked them up and here is the list. My question, is there any information like a manual for the mitsubishi? I have looked everywhere and no luck. I also can't seem to find a manual for the Singer 153W104 either. I currently use a Singer 16-141, 29 K 58 and Pearson NO 6 and sometimes the Durkopp (stitching is minimum setting and unable to change). I wanted to add a machine that sews leather a bit heavier than upholstery and has reverse. I have been testing them out and will be parting with majority but tried the Adler 67 GK and seem to love this one. I also liked the Mitsubishi. I can't get the Pfaff to grab the bobbin just yet so I'm not sure on this one. As well the singer153 needs some deep cleaning and a new motor but wanted to add the motorized cylinder to my assemblage. So I am wondering if I should keep the Pfaff, Adler and Mitsubishi or just one of these? These machines all came from an Upholstery manufacturing facility that closed down in Toronto area. Any experiences with these or any information would be greatly appreciated. I have a Durkopp and not sure if it reads 231-02 or 237-02. I can't seem to find an ounce of information about this industrial machine. It seems nice some of the time and came with a roller foot. I would like to be able to adjust the stitches but it has no place I could find to lengthen them. I am thinking this machine was modified back in the day to be very specific. It came from a shoe repair shop and was part of a larger purchase. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks Peg

Well as it turns out I had a couple of issues going on. I had the needle in backwards. I discovered when I broke the 160 needle it scraped the shuttle causing a burr. That seemed to messing up the next needle I plugged and it also got a little burr in the end. After some light sanding I got the machine to sew almost perfect. Seems the only way was using a 230 needle with a spool of white left twist thread I had kicking around and was able use the new thread 277 for the bobbin. The new threads I bought of the 346 and 277 won't work as a top thread either. I'll have to keep an eye out for linen threads and get more needles.

Hmm, it is new thread and I purchased 3 rolls of each in different colors. Yikes I'd be happy if it was just the thread but can't see it being wonky with all of them. Thanks I'll keep plugging away.

Any wisdom on thread and needs with this machine. Thought I had it sewing fine but not. I purchased some new needles and thread. I figured I start with the 230 needle with 346 thread on the top and 277 on the bottom as directed. The thread I got is called poly nu Bond according to Weaver it's polyester and when I'm sewing with the black it seems like it just keeps producing these little flake fibres that come off of the thread. Its awlful like the coating on the thread is getting rubbed when feeding through to sew. The bottom thread easily slips out. When I switch the top colour same size threads the brown on top appears puffy but no flake and the bottom seems okay. I have tried switching bunches of combinations top bottom color. I'm getting really frustrated. Any suggestions will help please.

Where did you find the serial number? I have one also and can't see to locate it. thanks peg

I am using a Pearson #6. I purchased it last year at an auction in Wallenstein Ontario. I have been able to purchase needles from www.aaronmartin.com. He is the only one I could find selling those needles. I am still not sure what the LRW stands for but now too late as the needles are not available.

I came across some needles for sale that state they can be used for my machine but not sure what the LRW means. I am using a Pearson #6. Any information is greatly appreciated. thanks Peg

I found a few minutes to get some picture however no time to do anything with it. Here is one picture of it getting loaded off the truck with our tractor. Not sure how or where I can post other pictures as it seems to only allow this one.

I just purchased a Pearson no 6 and trying to figure out the manufacture date among a million other things about this machine. I see a number just behind the needle area on top it is stamped in the metal 6500. Thought maybe this is just a part number. Where exactly would I find this number ? The front wheel has The British United Shoe Machinery Corp Leicester England on it. Just got it home Saturday and tried sewing but it seems to be skipping a couple of stitches here and there. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Peg
