What Leather And Foam Is Used For Padded English Bridles?
dwdwannabe replied to yankeeinoz's topic in How Do I Do That?
Thank you to everyone. I am actually looking at making one to learn more and I have been searching everywhere for the item used for padding. Is there somewhere that you may direct me to learn about the sizes or possibly purchase templates for curved browbands. Any help is greatly appreciated. -
Thanks for the comments Sperrier, I wish I could load higher quality images. Unfortunately with the image size most of the details are cut out. I am actually working on that now as we speak. I will post pictures of it here when I get it done. Had to go to the leather store to grab a smaller tool for the armguard so I could make the serpentine border.

JayInOz, Thank you for the comments. I will actually be wearing it on a belt facing back as a field quiver. I shoot with a group of guys that do barebow recurves in salt lake city. I was able to repair an old recurve bow that my father made in shop class in high school. The colors match the bow and I was able to locate some gold tip traditional arrows that have a really nice wood look to them. I will be fletching them with feathers. One of the stipulations for the group is that you have to have all homemade gear. Figured if would go medieval and go all out. I still have to make the bag and the belth that will go with it.

Hey everyone, Haven't posted for a little bit, but here it goes. I am almost finished with my recurve quiver for archery. I used 7 to 9 oz. Leather and tooled in the house stark sigil. Hand stitched with fiebings briar brown antiquing gel. I still have to burnish the edges and do the pouch that will connect to the hole you see cut. I am also going to make a custom belt to go with it. The rabbit fur is from hunting with my brother. He dyed it to a brown but not sure how he did it. Had to resize the images to fit on here. So quality is not the greatest

Billy, I know that pattern comes from the 1911 style patterns sold at Tandy leather. I hope that helps a bit. I picked it up here st my local shop for 6.00.

I used 5 oz leather for my belt loops and they seem really sturdy. Easy to stich and mold. -

Here is an update on the belt was able to put my first layer of stain. I tried to blend the red and black and then shade the blood on the top. Hope you like it. Once again any tips or advice is always welcome. -
Hey guys here is my 5th project ever. I didn't want to pay for a gun rig so I got every thing including the pattern from tandy leather for around 140.00 with plenty left over for a couple more projects. Let me know what you think. Comments and tips are always welcome.

Custom Belt With Tooling

Thanks Rohn, I do plan on finishing it here in the next couple of days. I have to wait for my shipment of red dye. I will be using the Angelus red die. I would like to get a nice vibrant red for the blood dripping. The belt will be cut in half and the buckle and fastener will be on the back side. I will be using a 2" ring for decorative fastening on the front in between the two wings that are supposed to sit on the pelvic area. Still trying to figure things out with the layout considering this is my fourth project I do not have a lot of experience under my belt. -
Hey everyone, just wanted to get some advice from the community on the new belt that I am working on.Thinking about cutting it in half and having the adjustment in the rear and the having the two wings attached by circle ring. Colors are going to be red and black. Still a work in progress, any helpful tips will be appreciated. I will be burnishing the edges and skiving the flaps on the edges of the bat wings for the ring. Please be kind in your comments this is only my 4th project.

Hey man great job. Like posted before by many.finishing the edges and stitching will defiantly add more value to the belt. As for colors I would go with a nice gel antiquing brown. That will give it a good rustic look that many can use with a lot of their outfits. Burnishing the edges will help with the style and give it that clean look.
