  1. From the album: My First Year Projects

Another view of my 1st guitar strap. Also 1st time I used a wood burner to write on leather. At this point in my experience, It's easier than trying to carve a name with the swivel knife!

This was my attempt at carving a Peruvian Paso onto a noseband for my friend's horse
  11. From the album: My First Year Projects

I tired incorporating a resist into the leaf design. Next time I'll try a lighter hand on the strokes so it is not as bold. Otherwise, I like the general effect.

    Trying my hand at acorns.
  13. From the album: My First Year Projects

I didn't have any flat lace, so I used round lace and flattened it with my mallet after it was stitched.
  14. From the album: My First Year Projects

I stamped the horses name on a side piece that I rivited to the halter
  15. From the album: My First Year Projects

As much as I love horses, they are sure hard to carve. This was for my friend who has a Chestnut, a Buckskin and a Black horse. The obvious problem was having a black horse on a black background...did not think that one thru...

My rope border spacing is also improving (a little bit).
  17. From the album: My First Year Projects

I was happy to center the stamp in the steer head.
  18. From the album: My First Year Projects

This is my 1st time using an alphabet stamp.
  19. From the album: My First Year Projects

This is my first acorn leaf, and also the 1st time I used one of these Sam Brown buttons instead of a snap. I cut the hole too much. Luckily it still stays securely closed.
  20. From the album: My First Year Projects

Fits over the back cinch of the saddle..
  21. From the album: My First Year Projects

This is my first acorn leaf. Yeah, my carving is improving some. This is another saddle cell phone case for a roper friend.
  22. From the album: My First Year Projects

I take back what I said about the last pic...This one is my first carving of a horse. Check out the long nose! I was able to whittle it down later using a backgrounder.
  23. From the album: My First Year Projects

This is my first carving of a horse. It is a "fancy stepping" Peruvian Paso noseband for my friend's horse. I did not do much in the way of using a modeler to define the horse.

...and more of the same...with those stupid flower centers!!
  25. From the album: My First Year Projects

OK, you can see a theme going with seeders and flower centers. It should not be this hard!! Every one of my flower centers suck!!
