  7. Hi SBPark. I'm still a newbie myself. Been tooling since July 2013. I started with a deluxe beginner Tandy kit that was a gift, and poured thru their enclosed booklet and DVD to get started on the enclosed projects. As I gained some experience and knew I wanted to continue with the craft, I began purchasing vintage "Craftool USA" tools on ebay and etsy. The vintage craftools make nice impressions. Also, Tandy makes a premium line of craftools (in addition to their regular line) that are nice and not very expensive. I have other brands that are great as well, however Tandy works good for me since I live fairly close to their Union City store and go to their leather classes on Saturday mornings. Best of luck with your new hobby! You came to a great website for questions. I have gained so much info since joining, and really appreciate the comradery. Hobbihorse

Good for you, Hobbie! (I haven't been here for awhile, just saw this) What a great opportunity!

  11. Howdy, I can't find a previous post for this...but I'm looking for the see-through "plastic" material for stitching into a wallet for your ID card. Prefer buying it by the yard if possible.
  12. Awesome work! Where did you get the doctor bag pattern? I'd love to try making one when I get the courage!!
  13. It's official. My dining room is now my leather work shop. Perhaps not conventional, but keeps me close to the family while they watch TV in the evening, and provides lotz of room!

  14. Donated most of the china, and now my china cabinet is filled with leather supplies in my new dining room/workshop

OMG...the space is awesome. Moved my desk from the kitchen to the dining room. We can still use the large oak dining table if needed, but it sure makes a great work table to spread out my leather!

Glad your squared away. And happy about it.

We have a commercial here in No Ga. that runs from a garden nursery, its ending words say

"Now go play in the yard" So I say to you, "Now go play with your leather" hohoho

  15. Love your detailed work! Would enjoy seeing more of your pics. Hobbihorse
  16. Cool advice...Thanks...sounds like it can work for cell phone cases as well??
  17. Thanks Camano, that's great advice! Unfortunately (again) I will not have access to the gun while making the holster. But my friend has like 100 handguns, and said the holster will likely fit at least one of them!! haha!! hopefully between the blue gun, the glock pattern (it's a pull-out from a Leatherworkers and Saddlers Journal 2011 back issue), and your advice about fit, I SHOULD be in good shape...
  18. Thanks Wild Bill and Byggyns! you've given me the courage to try it again! A friend wants a holster for his glock. But this time I'll have both a glock paper pattern AND a "blue gun" to fit as a go.
  19. As soon as I saw this pic I knew it was you! Luv that fringe!
  20. Purdy collar on a purdy dog!
